The Sony Walkman NW-E005 Available in a wide variety of colours- violet, black, silver and pink as far as i am aware of! It has a choice of 512MB (which approximately stores 250 songs), 1GB (500 songs), 2GB (1,000 songs). It is a compact small and convienient shape, and can easily be carried around in a handbag or whilst participating in sport activities (expect for swimming i should add!).
Features of the Product On top of the standard basics of an mp3 player, i have also found other useful funtions -
Sound The control is simple and increadibly easy, with a simple location on the back of the player, in options there is an extensive range of adjustments that can be made to the sound emitted - . One handy function i find handy is the avls, which prevents the increase of the volume up to a certain point where it may no longer be safe for the ears - especially
when as the environment changes you may keep increasing the volume without noticing the big difference. The sound itself is average, because standard simple white in ear earphones are supplied.
Controls Searching for tracks on the player is long and tedious, when searching in the artists catergories it involves an endless list which you reptitively scroll through, before you know it, you have already missed the artist you were searching for. I find searching for songs/ albums even more troublesome, as i have found the songs are in the order which has been uploaded onto the mp3 player rather than alphabetical which makes the whole function useless when you have 1000 songs.
Sonic Stage The program provided to upload songs onto the mp3 player. The system itself is simple and basic, yet there are a few glitches to be dealt with. The player takes a considerable length of time to load, i find the process of transferring everything on your computer to the "library" fairly tedious. The sonic stage player at times, tends not to certain tracks, and when the mp3 player is connected it plays no tracks on the computer at all for me.
USB attatchment I have to say it is ingenious, for a person like me who is capable of loosing anything. The usb is attached to one end of the mp3 player, effortlessy and stylishley hidden into the design, hidden by a plastic cap. It simply acts as a usb, plug it into the computer and it is instantly recognised (but it does take sonic stage a couple of minutes to recognise the attachment of the player and load the information).
Power The charge time is very quick, and the battery has an extremely long life with an accurate battery indicator - that actually represents the battery remaining. And there are a few setting in the advanced menu that can reduce the consumption of power, making it last a lot longer. The only way to charge the player is through the usb, there is no docking system or such that connects the player to a main power supply directly. It can be quite tedious at times, having to switch on a computer just to charge the player, but you find that you just have to adjust it and charge the player whenever the computer is on whether your working or using the computer for your leisure - but you just simply slot the the usb in and you don't have to access the Sonic Stage.
Screen One line display which certainly does limit the ability to scroll through the menu and when searching for songs. It has a bright bak light display, and there are many options for the player to change the screen saver and adjust the light. Visually when the player is lights up in the dark , the brightness of the display is stunning and the infomation is clear. However, as you look closer you discover, that the actual components of the screen are very apparent in the dark. I love the glassy design of the front of the case, but i have found that it can quite easily get dust trapped in there, making the player itself look a bit worse and worn than it is at times.
Design I love the design it is so sleek and simple, but with use it iseasily stracthed just like all things. The coat of colour on the buttons get worn off with time, and as i have mentioned before dust gets trapped under the screen. One thing for me which i didn't like the first time i actually saw the player, was the bland greayplastic on the back, but as it is on back as time goes on you get used to it and it doesn't look as harsh than at first.
Conclusion I have to say i love the player the sleek design, the capabilities of the functions for ease and effiecient use. The one thing i did not like about it was the Sonic Stage, which was horrendous for me to use with quite a few glitches it would seem and a considerable loading time. I have had this player for nearly two years now, so i am very pleased with it and it is extremely durable, but a problem i am finding with it now is that 2GB is not enough memory, compared to those available now! But i still recommened it for people who just want a convienient and user friendly mp3 player.
