This was my first ever walkman, which I bought about five years ago. At the time it was considered to be the latest technology.
This is a tape and radio walkman. The tape player has all of the normal functions (play, stop, reverse and fast forward). It has an auto stop function, so that when the tape gets to the end, it will automatically stop, meaning you avoid damaging the tape. It however does not have an auto reverse function, so you do actually need to open the tape door, take the tape out and put it back in the correct way. The buttons are the old fashioned style, where you can actually feel the mechanics inside moving when you press the button down. The tape door has come off a few times, however this was a result of me dropping it, and it clicks back into place fairly easily with the help of an adult.
The radio is both am and fm. To tune it in, you need to turn a dial, which can be a bit tricky and imprecise. Nowadays the walkmans have a tuner with a display that shows what frequency you are on. The reception is quite good on the radio, giving a decent sound.
The headphones are quite good, considering that the whole machine and headphones today only cost twenty pounds. They give an OK sound, perfect for kids.
The unit itself has got a belt clip, so you can attach it to your belt, however I found that this was uncomfortable and not very secure. I found this to be very durable, as I must have dropped it ont the playground about half a dozen times. There are scratch marks on it, however the machine still works fine.
It uses two AA batteries, which will last in it for about twenty hours, which by today's standards is not that long. It also has a little light that comes on to say that the battery has power in. It is also a good way of checking that you haven't left it on by mistake.
It comes with a one year garantee provided by Sony, however I have had it for five years and it has never gone wrong. The instructions were also very clear to understand.
Overall this is a good machine, however it is pretty old fashioned for todays technology.

...Good things come in small packages, what more is there to say (think what you will of this, just remember in the words of Napoleon 'it isn't the size of your ship that matters, its the amount of seamen you have that counts').
Anyhow, as I was saying, this Sonycassetteplayer is tiny, 11cm long, 8cm wide and 2cm thick. For something of such a small size, it delivers superb quality.

Unlike other Walkmans, this one only plays cassettes, it does not have an in built radio or GPS or MP3 or coffee maker with milk frother. It’s obviously useless then! But, what it does do is to play the cassettes with superb quality.

...NICE AND SMALL CASSETTEPLAYER. It is a small cassetteplayer. I suggest it for all those who own cassettes (old cassettes) that do not want to rubish them. With a well known model SONY you will have ag reat cassetteplayer and also a good reader. It has also a digital tuner and a stereo headphones. You can put this cassette in your back pocket and then you put the control in your shirt. You can control this player from a small control that is very handy. Altough it is small it has good features and also good for old people due it is very easy to use it. This SONY WM-FX 521 cassetteplayer is very handy and can be used from all the people....

...The Sony WM-EX 605 is purely a personal cassetteplayer. I bought one last week for my six year old daughter, as she likes to listen to books on tape.
The unit features are: Feather touch controls, auto reverse, remote control, and up to 35 hour battery life.
Feather touch controls basically just a gentle touch of the button will activate that function. Auto reverse well this turns the tape over without removing the tape from the unit but this is an intelligent auto reverse it can be programmed to play both sides of the tape once or continuous play (where the tape will continue to play until the player is stopped). Remote control this is fitted on the headphone cable and controls the volume, oh it also controls all the other functions as well Play, Fast Forward, Rewind, Stop and Auto reverse! Battery life well it’s supposed to last...
