This is by far, the best camera i own, i had the sony a100 wich unfortuantly broke, but the sony a200 delivers more with a bigger lcd screen and higher iso settings of 3200, i would strongly recomend this 10.2 megapixel camera to anyone.
The sony a200 sports a 18-70mm lens, which adds a bit more telephoto coverage, then other models aimed at this price.
The only problem with the sony a200 is when the camera focuses, it tends to make a lot of noise, and can take quit a while to focus on subjects, but apart from this, it is a realy nice camera, it is slightly smaller than the a100, but it still sports a plastic body, but thats expected of a slr at this price.
The camera has many more feutres inside, as sony use there feutres in the body, while other companies use lens based ones. The camera has a Bionz image processing engine. It feutres a D-range optimiser to enhance pictures, and sports a fast 3 frames a second, with a 2.7 inch lcd offering 0.2 more than the a100, it uses a sony a mount, and has a anti-dust sytem, to get rid of dust on the censor.
The camera is also good for any one with old konica minolta lenses, as they will all fit on the sony alpha range, the camera also has crative styles and super steady shot inside of the body, with a inof-lithium battery, which can take up to 750 shots in one charge! There is a number of other accessoires in the box, these include:
Battery charger Rechargeble battery pack(np-fm500h) USB cable Video cable CD-ROM Shoulder strap Eyepiece cover Standard zoom lens 18-70mm
All of this in one tiny box!The box itsellf is something to get worked up on, it is a lush orange coulor, any you know that this camera is a winner, thats why i have give this camera such a high rating. But for someone who has not owend a camera before, i would suggest buying a digital compact, for around one hundred pounds, as these are a lot more easy to use for people who dont realy understand cameras that well, and just want to take family shots, becouse you would not have to change lenses and filters, and spend a lot of money on insurance, flash guns, vertical grips and other accessoires.
The good point of owing a sony alpha, is the fact that sony have bought the company from konica minolta, and made it there own, and they have sold 16 million lenses to date, and nearly all of them will fit the sony alpha mount. The camera has a dedicated flash, wich means only song and konica minolta flashes will fit on it, so there is no third party making then, although you can get a opteka flash for the sony alpha for thirty pound, but the quility has to be considered.
And with sony bringing out a full frame dslr, sporting a massive 24 megepixels and a bigger censors, this has got to be the time to consider buying into the alpha range, there are so many extras you can get for this camera there are filters, there is two types, a screw type and a squere type which is cheaper, but will both fit the sony alpha. Possible filters: Sepia filter Flourecent filter Red filter Green filter Yellow filter Orange filter Blue filter Diffuser filter Duto diffuser filter Soften diffuser filter Special soften diffuser filter Neutral density filter Rainbow filter Linear polirizng filter Veri cross filter Close up +1 Close up+2 Close up+4 Close up macro+10 Center image sand filter 5 image filter And there is a lot more! So as you can see there is tons of ways you can improve your photography by the sony alpha range.
