The Sony A230 is an entry-level DSLR camera that has a small and simple user interface. With a bright 2.7 inch LCD screen in addition to creative style settings, sharp menu color scheme options and an on-screen help guide, the Sony a230 offers convenient operation with reduced controls. The shutter speed and SteadyShot indicator go hand in hand when taking multiple photos.

This has been a prime camera for me for learning the basics of photography. I wanted to start small and somewhat cheap, but worth the money. It is quite sturdy, as well, and changing lenses is easy because of the red dot indicating where to line up the lens. No trouble with the battery compartment and the battery power is good for well over 500 shots. Though you may need to carry around something to wipe the lcd screen with since your nose will be pressed against it for nearly every shot. The flash will pop up almost unexpectedly when you have flash set on the menu press the shutter halfway down but you can easily press it back down and set options to no flash mode.

Overall, the Sony a230 is a basic DSLR for hobbyists or beginning professionals. I would recommend starting off with a camera like this more than anything.
