My 'mother-in-law' bought this for our daughter when she was about 4 months old, and it is amazing!! She's always been a fairly good sleeper (very lucky I know!) but this just helps her get there even quicker!
Has soothing melodies with 'ocean' noises in between, and its tummy provides a gentle night light. Body is fully soft apart from the tummy which is a harder plastic material (although not so hard that it would hurt the baby when they drop it on their head lol) and has fins made of satin. Has 2 volume settings, the louder setting is quite loud, so we have it on the quiet setting mostly (although the louder setting is loud enough to get her attention when she's having a tantrum!) Batteries are located in the back which is secured by velcro.
We put this on (activated by pressing the belly) for her when we put her in her cot, and she will usually be asleep within a couple of minutes, and I'm sure this has helped! We keep it for night-time and naps only-she's not allowed to play with it in the day, and I'm sure this helps her recognise it's sleepy-time and not play time.
My other half's little boy also had one from about 4 months (the blue one) and hes just coming upto 3 years old, and its still going strong! Very long lasting!
Batteries it comes with don't last very long, and when they start to go, music starts getting all warped and slow-sounds very funny-baby not a fan though, so you do need to change the batteries as soon as you can hear it slowing down. Takes 3 AA batteries I think (partner always changes them not me!)
Would one million percent recommend this to any parent with a young baby. My daughter, as I said, has always been pretty good at sleeping at night, but I used to struggle to get her to nap in her moses basket or cot in the daytime, but she will sleep in it every time now, and this has only happened since the seahorse (named Lady Penelope) arrived into our family!
