Great quality if a little outdated.
Advantages: 8 mono channels, balanced inputs and outputs. Disadvantages: Need to install PCI card.
...it a worthy buy.
M-Audio has a pedigree that any pro-audio manufacturer should be proud of, and the Delta 44 is no exception, it has low operating latency at around 10ms, and 4 ins and outs on large 3.5" jacks (perfect for a recording studio). they are also balanced which means you can use in conjuction with balanced cables in your studio (perfect for keeping the excess noise down).
M-audio's support has always been top-notch too, with them at ... ...they were to be released to public (and they sorted the problem!).
All in all a great product but with todays portable market and plethora of sound cards on the market, not one that would be the top of anyones list, unless it was a real 2nd hand bargain. ...

M-Audio Fast Track Pro - Great for working with audio on a budget
Advantages: cheap, reliable, portable, easy to use and intuitive Disadvantages: limited ins and outs, not a lot of leeway for input levels
The M-Audio Fast Track Pro is all round a fairly good piece of kit. I originally bought mine as my very first audio/usb interface to use with my Macbook and Logic Pro when I first started university, 2 years ago. I am now in my final year, and have progressed up to using Pro Tools (M-powered, as this is the only version supported by the Fast Track Pro.) I have to date used the fast track pro to create semi-professional projects. The sound quality ... ...interface, although I have had problems attempting to get a decent input signal strength, especially when using the built in phantom power. However, the integrated phantom power is effective, even when the unit is powered solely by USB, although the option for mains power is available, though the adapter is not included in the box. I got a universal adapter from Maplin for £6.99. The Fast Track Pro has 2 XLR inputs, and 2 more digital inputs on the ...

Professional Results under £60 - WOW!
Advantages: Value for Money, Rock-Solid Performance Disadvantages: Quite simply none :D
Just so you are aware: I've reviewed this already, but there's two of these on Ciao, exactly the same product - thought I'd cover both with my review so you buyers get to read it :D
This was the first soundcard I purchased, about 4 years ago at £60, it was and still is an absolute bargain!
While this is certainly an entry level professional soundcard, with 2in/2out, it's been designed carefully and with as much detail as higher-spec sound cards ... ...as with nearly all PCI devices these days: chuck in the driver CD, or download and install the latest versions. Power Off. Slot in the card. Power On. Installed.
What I like, amongst many other things, is the reliability of the drivers. I've never once had a problem caused by the soundcard in any of the various host programs I use and it's a testament to great software engineering. I've used a MOTU 828 mkII for a few months on a recording project ...

Good audio interface for serious recording
Advantages: good sound quality, zero latency Disadvantages: if you expect a really out standing quality, this is not the one to go for
I bought this M-Audio firewire last year. Have to say Im really satisfy with this audio interface. It has 2 input with 48V phatom power, from which you can plug in your condenser microphones. There are also 2 1/4 input for instruments. It works really well for my acoustic, although I would prefer to use the condenser mics to record, since they give a fuller tone. Supported with firewire connection, there is no latency, and it allows you to record ...

An excellent piece of kit
Advantages: Very good value for money, very reliable Disadvantages: The software and instruction manuals (or lack of) let the side down.
This is an excellent piece of equipment. It has run reliably for several years, it is easy to set up, and it is excellent value for money.
So why not five stars - because of the supporting information and software, or rather lack of it.
The instructions are not very clear for a first time user, and the port names are confusingly named (wav 1/2, wav 3/4) and the same names are used for both the input and output ports, so selecting the right thing ... ...the software interface is nasty. It's a fixed size window so you cannot see all your channels at once without scrolling, and it's hyper-complicated "patchbay/router" still makes no sense to me, although it hasn't stopped me making excellent use (and excellent audio) with this piece of kit.
So hats off to M Audio, the hardware's great, but please pay some attention to your supporting materials.
