Hello my name is Jamie, my mum already writes here under the name junkboxjules and as she spends so long here I thought I'd come and have a look to see what the attraction was.
I am 9 years old and absolutely love anything to do with Thunderbirds and this my opinion of the Soundtech Thunderbird Two toy.
Thunderbirds is a popular childrens television programme created by Gerry Anderson that has been around since the late 1960's. The programme is all about the Tracy Brothers and their machines, (the Thunderbird vehicles). Each episode involves the Tracy Brothers carrying out a rescue and this is what they use the Thunderbird crafts for.
The packaging for the Thunderbird 2 is very similar to the packaging for all the other Thunderbirds available in the same range.
Thunderbird two is packaged in a plastic cover which is attached to a cardboard backing sheet.
At the bottom of the front of the packaging there is a coloured stripe which contains information about the Thunderbird which is included and its' pilot. Also on the front of the packaging is a picture of the pilot for Thunderbird 2 or whichever Tracy Brother pilots the Thunderbird you have bought. Thunderbird 2 is piloted by Virgil Tracy and he is my favourite. The top of the packaging contains the wording Thunderbirds which is written in the same big red lettering that is normally shown at the beginning of an episode of the Thunderbirds television programme, at the bottom of the lettering there is a picture of a silvery grey coloured Thunderbird 1 coming towards you. The front of the packaging also tells you that the product is only suitable for children aged 3+.
The back of the packaging contains a collector card which tells you about the character that pilots the vehicle, (in this case Virgil). The back of the packaging also contains a little bit of information explaining what the vehicle can do. Also on the back there is a picture of the other Soundtech vehicles which are available, including Thunderbird 1, Thunderbird 3 and FAB 1.
The Soundtech Thunderbird 2 vehicle requires three 1.5 volt LR41 batteries in order for it to speak, (there are batteries supplied with the vehicle but they don't last long) - you can still play with it without the batteries but it won't be as much fun.
Thunderbird 2 is a dark green vehicle which the Tracy Brothers use when they are called out to an emergency. The Soundtech Thunderbird 2 is made out of plastic and the centre of the vehicle contains a pod which can be released from the main vehicle by releasing the red lever which is located just in front of the tail on the main Thunderbird 2 body. The pod can hold one of the two other vehicles which are also included within this set, they are Thunderbird 4 and The Mole. They are small enough to fit into the pod but only one at a time. Both Thunderbird 4 and The Mole are yellow.
Thunderbird 2 has retractable legs which are released by pushing the red buttons which can be found next to the pod - there is one red button on each side and each red button releases the two legs on its' side - to enable Thunderbird 2 to stand up you must release all four legs.
There is another red button located on the front of Thunderbird 2 and this activates the voice which can be used to make playing with the vehicle more exciting. The vehicle says the following five phases.
"Thunderbird 2 to base" "FAB Scott" "Let's Get Down There" "Thunderbirds Are Go" "Thunderbird 2 Understand Your Danger Zone, FAB"
Virgils voice is used to say all the above commands. If you had Thunderbird 1, the commands would be spoken by Scott as he is the Captain of Thunderbird 1.
I have had my Thunderbird 2 vehicle for just over a year and it has been played with lots of times and has not broken although the batteries ran out very quickly as I use the voice quite a lot.
I normally play with my Thunderbird 2 vehicle with my Tracy Island but I also like playing with it on its' own - if you know somebody who loves Thunderbirds they are sure to like this toy.
My Thunderbird 2 cost £10.00 last year but I have seen them in the sale for around £7.00 more recently so you may be able to pick up a bargain.

Mummy has typed this for me but she has typed it using my words and only offered advice.
I hope you have enjoyed reading about my favourite Thunderbird Vehicle.
Advantages: Can't think of any Disadvantages: cheap plastic that breaks, expensive
...back I brought him the soundtech Thunderbird 2 from our local Argos store, in the brochure it look great, it came complete with the Mole and Thunderbird 4, it features 5 (meant to be) authentic phrases and it was inclusive of batteries and all for £9.99, so with my son in tow, we took a trip into town, armed with his pocket money we ventured into Argos. Well after waiting in the que, he gave the cashier his slip and money, and he got his ticket to ... ...arrived, when I saw it my first impression were it's so small, I was expecting it to be bigger, but my son had a big smile and couldn't wait to get home.
When we arrived back at home, my son ripped open the packet and he began to play, I was really dissapointed, it had a leg that didn't particually work, all the legs had trouble folding up into posistion, and the voice that said the phrases sounded like it had, had one too many.
My son had trouble ...
