Review of "Sourz Apple Sweet & Sour Liqueur"
I want to say now despite the number of alcohol reviews i seem to be doing, or intending to do i do not have an alcohol problem as such, i just spend too much time around it!Apple sourz i love for many reasons, it tastes great as a shooter and as a mixed drink - mmmm cocktails.... more of that later.
It has a slightly different bottle shape to the 'regular' bottles on my bar (obviously i refer to the bar i work at not the one in my wardrobe), so is more noticable, as its shorter and wider in diametre than others. Its a bright green colour so again under the lights on the bar it is quite visible. I believe that it has an abv of 15% so is relatively alcohol light, although you do tend to feel it after a bottle and a half, im informed by my flatmate - see any wonder i write about alcohol with this kind of friend! On sale in the shop you'll pay around £10 for a 70cl bottle, in pubs and clubs youll pay around £1-£2.50 for each 25ml measure.
The label on the bottle is clear so the colour you see is the actual colour of the drink, doesnt it look yummy! Anyway back to the label, it has a line drawing of an apple because you know what it tastes of apples, with sourz in solid black lettering. The label on the back contains the usual rubbish, including ingredients list. The taste as advertised is very apple-ly and sour but has a sweetness to it too, when i drink it, i get a kind of 'buzzing' in my gums and tongue which is great then the actual taste, and then a very pleasant aftertaste which unlike most shooters wont make you feel ill, probably because it has such a low alcohol content.
As i said earlier there are several ways to drink it, as a shooter, in which case i recommend it chilled as warm it isnt quite as pleasant and can be quite sickly, as a sipping drink unmixed buy a double and resist the urge to gulp it down, but dont have ice in it!
You can mix it with soda - apparently- but as i dislike soda ive not tried it or lemonade tastes lovely but with some lemonades can be too sweet.
Or cocktail time, i mix it with midori and vk tropical, it turns lime green and tastes sort of like opal fruits - you know theyre starburst now but not as good.
I also mix it with tropical sourz and either vk orange, tropical or silver (or smirnoff ice type drinks).
My personal preferance is tropical sourz but apple seems to be more widely avaliable. Other flavours are tropical(blue), peach and pineapple.
