Advantages: This game is based on South Park. Disadvantages: Virtually everything about this game is a cheap, poorly-done SP rip-off. A total waste of time and money.

My four younger siblings and myself have been fans of Comedy Central's "South Park" for years. It is, by far, one of the most offensive, vulgar, and juvenile cartoons on the planet - which explains why it's so appealing to young adults and their siblings. It's definitely not for those morally-upright folk out there who sneer at cartoon violence, profanity, and other juvenile humor.
Whatever the case, we were all trembling with excitement when South Park 64 hit the shelves. It had a "Mature" rating, so we had to convince Mom to buy it for us (I was seventeen, and thus old enough to purchase it, but there was the problem of not having forty-five dollars U.S. funds to get the game - darn!) She gladly bought it, figuring that we would entertain ourselves for months with this game. WRONG! It's a total pile of crap, one that I would not pay for again if my very life depended on it. Forty-five dollars straight down the tubes, ladies and gentlemen!
The concept behind the game is simple, really: You are one of the four South Park children (Cartman, Kyle, Stan, or Kenny). You all travel together in a group, attacking invaders of all kinds who are trying to take over your peaceful little mountain town of South Park, Colorado. You are armed with everything from snowballs to toilet plunger rockets - juvenile weapons if there ever were such a thing! You attack such things as aliens and gigantic mutated turkeys, attempting to kill them off whilst reaching the end of the level. Other South Park characters - such as Mr. Garrison, Officer Barbrady, and our beloved Isaac Hayes as Chef - make guest appearances in this game, complete with sound clips of the actors' voices and fairly realistic graphical representations of the characters. Even with that little bonus, the game sucks royal ass, people.
**WHY THIS GAME SUCKS**
The concept is great. I love the idea of shooting dodgeballs at enormous turkeys and going from house to house in search of my friends in order to travel to the next level. I even enjoy hearing the sound clips from the South Park kids - "OH MY GOD! THEY KILLED KENNY!" being my favorite, of course. However, that is the only good point behind this game: The concept. Anything that revolves around South Park has got to be good, right? Hah - wrong again! This game is nothing more than a well-planned rip-off of school-aged children all over the world.
**THE GRAPHICS SUCK**
N64 is notorious for blocky, slow-moving graphics - especially when compared with the likes of Sony's PlayStation or Sega's Dreamcast. However, the South Park characters are especially slow and bulky here. It's as if the frame-rate drops every time you sneeze! They are hardly seamless: Often half of your character will do that incredible "disappearing act" behind graphically-represented mountains and snowcaps, something that is just plain annoying. I do believe the programmers could have done a better job, but then again, did they really HAVE to considering the number of copies sold?
**THE CONTROLS ARE A JOKE**
Controlling the characters, changing weapons, and selecting levels or options is a very logical process: You just KNOW what button to push, because the layouts make perfect sense. However, that's the only highlight of the controls. Regardless of what controller I used - from the standard N64 controller to the various Shockwave and Mad Katz supercontrollers - I had to lean on the joystick or press down fairly hard on the buttons in order to make the characters do what I wanted. Normally I am a fairly adept video gamer, and do not have problems figuring out what I want to do: However, in South Park 64's case, the movements are about as responsive as Winnie the Pooh's Eeyore. Whoopie.
**A TODDLER COULD BEAT THE GAME**
Oh yes, this is the most challenging gaming title since...the original Nintendo's "Color a Dinosaur" which was released for pre-schoolers in the late eighties. Shooting turkeys, interacting with the other characters, touring the town, and otherwise completing missions are child's play regardless of how difficult you try to make it through the Options menus. This is a very sad statement indeed, coming from a player who has yet to beat the likes of Goldeneye 007, DOOM 64, or even N64's Mario Bros. series!
Even the often-grueling task of keeping your character alive is simple, as re-charging items available to be picked up (such as Cheesy Poofs) are in abudnance. You can hardly turn around without finding some other bonus item laying in the snow: A bigger weapon, a power recharge, points bonuses, et cetera. Again, it is child's play, even to this not-so-great gamer.
**I GET THE FEELING THAT THIS IS A CRAPPY SOUTH PARK RIP-OFF**
Shame on Matt and Trey for allowing Nintendo to make fools of them like this! Even though the game was released several years ago, some people are STILL complaining about how horrible it was for the South Park image overall. God, it was bad, people! Kids stood in line for what seemed like ages in order to get their hands on this game, only to find a pile of crap with the SP logo stamped all over it. AH! What a waste of time!
All in all, this game sucks royally. I can't believe it was so bad, considering that previews and other sneak-peeks made it appear to be at least decent, if not something close to good. So, if you're planning on picking up a South Park video game, look into PlayStation titles, or even Chef's Luv Shack - ANYTHING but South Park 64, which is in my opinion one of the saddest jokes in gaming history.
Advantages: Great Graphics And Sound Disadvantages: No Playability Whatsoever
...were going to make a South Park game, they got excited. Then came the screen shots. The graphics were crisp and clear, the best yet seen on the N64. The game, everyone thought, was going to be great. I mean how could Acclaim go wrong. The cartoon and all its merchandise were popular, and so would the game. Finally the game was finished. Everyone rushed out to buy it with great expectations.
As soon as you started the game great sound clips were ... ...comment by one of the South Park kids. Then you started level two. More turkeys came, and more snowballs were thrown. Then came level three. More turkeys came, and again more snowballs were thrown. And that’s when you realized that this was basically the whole game, and you’ve just wasted your hard earned 50 pounds on a boringly repetitive game.
It felt like Acclaim had just copied and pasted the same level again and again with a few ...

Advantages: South Park in 3D, authentic voice-overs, sweet weapons Disadvantages: The use of music isn't great, the action can be lacking
...shooting action so I gave South Park for the N64 a shot. I had enough of an idea what the cartoon was like but what little I've seen of it was many years ago. Developed by Iguana Entertainment, South Park uses the engine from their Turok 2: Seeds of Evil game.
The second Turok game was one where I had difficulty getting to grips with the controls. Here, you can choose to use either the To-rock or Brown-eye configurations (see what they did there ... ...this is how I felt South Park would appear if it was in 3D. In keeping with the cartoon though, the level of detail isn't great, and so the environments - not being as solid as they should be - come across as being bland.
Another boring factor is how during play the game tends to switch between two tunes - seemingly depending on whether you are indoors or outdoors. Then there's the limited sound effects, though the kid's occasional swearing - like ...

Advantages: funny ideas Disadvantages: not that complex in parts
...through the colourful world of South Park give a real feeling for the grotesque cartoon world. You can choose from several characters: Cartman, Kenny, Kyle or Stan, who don’t differ in any of their abilities, but do have their own individual vocabulary. In the beginning of each stage you have to search for the other three children. While doing that, in the first level you are being attacked by heaps of turkeys. Unfortunately, there aren’t any other ... ...tank, that you definitely need to get rid of. Otherwise, they’ll return in a kind of penalty level to destroy the town. In the following levels there is nearly always just one enemy type accompanied by larger tanks. At the second stage there are only mutants and robots in the fourth one. Only in level two (cows, aliens, UFOs) and five (toy tanks, demon dolls, and jumping devils) there is some change. Therefore, I don’t find the diversity of enemies ...

Advantages: Can be smashed easily. Disadvantages: Smashing it isn't satisfing enough.
Objective: Reach End of Level. Kill all monsters on level.
Problem. About 200 monsters on each level. Is this a good thing? Far from it. The game is so repetitive, annoying, and just downright crap. I can't see how anyone one earth would want to play this game. I am a fan of the cartoon, but I find this game just completly insulting, just a cruddy tie in for the series. There is no rudeness or real vulgarity in it, and the levels are so linear its ...

Advantages: Believable South Park stlye graphics in a 3Dworld Disadvantages: An aquired taste
Every now and again along comes a game that is perfectly playable but doesn’t have that extra special something needed to make it stand out from the crowd, well that’s not this game! SouthPark Rally is Comedy Centrals answer to the N64’s ever popular Mario Kart the only difference is that this game features everyone’s favorite foul mouthed 9 year olds Kenny, Cartman, Kyle, Stan and all nearly every other SouthPark character you can imagine, they’re all here for the party!
The game follows the wacky, offbeat shenanigans of the comedy hit show with its sweet sense of humor and surreal storylines. Acclaim have put the SouthPark license to good use with this game it is by far the greatest SouthPark game going, this beats other racers hands down, it’s the wildest, raunchiest road race ever ...
Advantages: Everything Disadvantages: can become a little repetetive once you have played it as much as me
This game was on my shopping list well before it was to be released, even though the critics predicted the game to be somewhat drab or a mario kart rip off. however all of those people out there who call themselves game experts were wrong. southpark rally for the n64 is a classic and has all of the oumph and pazzazz that mario kart has but in a whole new way.
The new characters that can earned as you progress through the massive championship mode are wonderful much like the actual characters from the tv show, and their wonderful one liners will keep you laughing for hours.
Honestly though, you must buy this game even if you are not a southpark fan, as the levels are wacky and the drivers superb. This is more than just a game......

Advantages: humerous for a bit Disadvantages: gets repetitive too quickly
I would have to say that SouthPark is one of the most hilarious cartoons made but it has never really hit it off in the gaming world. I thought that Chef's Luv shak was going to be one of those games that would last a long time because of the basis of the gameplay. After a day or two, i found it to be quite tedious as the questions began to be repeated way too quickly, this brought boredom along with it. The only time i play this game now is when a few mates come round because its a bit of a laugh but other than that i steer clear and play classics like virtua tennis and Hydro Thunder. ...
