Advantages: Fast, Seaworthy, and Economical to run
Disadvantages: No cuddy cabin to get out of the weather

The Grady White Sportsman 180 is a perfect inshore fish killing machine. I've had my 2005 Sportsman 180 since new and have had no complaints or problems in the 100 hours I have put on it. Living in San Diego, the boat is perfect for 3/4 day trips to the Coronado Islands, or further out to the 425 and other fishing spots. The boat is also easily trailered for trips down to Baja California. Lastly, adding trim tabs to the boat is like adding 2 feet ...
...Couple that with a 60 gallon fuel tank and you have a boat with a lot of range. I am very glad I bought the Grady White over the other boats I was considering and would make the same decision if I had to do it again. ...

Maxum brilliant boat relatively cheap

Advantages: Cheap to run, great for day trips, good performance, ideal in lakes
Disadvantages: shallow hull

This size of maxum only has a very shallow hull which means it doesn't go through the waves as well as bigger boats so the ride is uncomfortable in rough sea states, however it would be ideal in a lake. Having said this we use our maxum in the sea and have rarely decided not to go on it due to the sea state. Overall this is an outstanding boat and i would not hesitate to buy another maxum!! ...
