More than just a record shop
Advantages Masses but the promotion of Welsh bands especially is tops
Disadvantages None
Spillers is the most well known Record Shop in Cardiff, named the oldest record shop in the u.k., opened since the 19century.
It's situated in the Hayes in Cardiff, which is out of the main shopping area in Cardiff of Queen Street, but is located in a good place for people arriving by train and there's even a small bus station nearby. There are too many good things about this shop to mention but as soon as you walk through the door you get a good vibe.
The shop assistants there know their stuff and are very helpful, you can buy tickets for many gigs there taking place in the city, and they even do their best to promote local talent and sell every welsh bands CD you ever imagined, from the Manics to much less well known bands such as the Crocketts.Spillers advertise all local events and you can pick up many leaflets for up and coming events there. Recently i've picked up free tickets for Wales's new music programme, the Pop factory.
There is an extremely large versitile selection on the music available to buy there, and if you can't find what you want they'll do their best to order it for you!Spillers also sell T shirts, and you can even advertise there if you thinking about putting you're own band together! You can get many CD albums there much cheaper then in the larger chain stores and new CD's are no more expensive.
O.K.If I haven't convinced you to pay Spillers a visit take into consideration it's clientelle. There are many posters and disks given to the shop from bands such as U2 for the good job the shop is doing, and once i was lucky enough to be shopping there when Mr R.Williams made a visit there.
