Triumph 955 (595) - Flying the Union Jack
Advantages: British bike - looks - handling - finish Disadvantages: heavy on wrists - heat of engine - massive rear tyre to replace
...I have always wanted a Triumph ever since they started building them again at Hinkley. Although I was a little young when they first came out and had only just passed my test.
Another reason was that old guys used to come up to me when I was parked up and start a conversation along the lines of:
"now thats a nice looking bike - the only problem with bikes these days is that they are all Japanese - I used to have a Vincent/BSA/Norton etc when I ... ...biggest out. It was felt Triumph did this more for fashion rather than handling. Most of the guys who raced them early on ditched the 190 section rear for an 180 section and this solved the problem.
Triumph Owner at last
------------------------------
Last summer (with the help of back pay owed) I had enouigh to buy one (and a car at the same time). So I popped to the local Triumph dealers )Eddy's) in Leeds and saw 2 gorgeous silver 955i's sitting ...

Speed Triple
Advantages: Excellent Handling & looks Disadvantages: Finnish
...-Brand new from my local Triumph dealer (Woods of Abergele ) A dealer which I only have praise for as the service has been excellent The Model i went for was the special edition with an all black frame and wheels - the extras such as the fly screen , belly pan and Radiator cowls all came fitted as standard
I have covered 2500 miles so far this year and been to a few rallies / events on it Performance -After the running in period and first service ... ..., No one in the Triumph factory could have actually sat on the bike and tried to look behind them using the mirrors - I wont comment on fuel consumption as i can never be arsed to work it out - it does about 150 miles untill the fuel warning light comes on Ill update the review as time goes by ...

Triumph Daytona 675, individually superb!!
Advantages: Triumph badge, grunt, handling, image, build quality Disadvantages: will keep you out all weekend, prepare the divorce papers!!
...at the weekends. The Triumph Daytona 675 certainly does, not just at the weekends either. My Daytona is a 05 in red, the best colour in my opinion. I have to say that of all the bikes I've owned this is by far the best all rounder and its given me the biggest grin of the lot. Not to say that it does everything reasonably well like a CBR 600; the 675 everything exceptionally well, has the image, the heritage and the grin factor packed in as well! ... ...went for the Triumph 675 Daytona because it had individuality, it felt as solid as a Japanese bike and above all had the Triumph badge and heritage. It's British!! On the test ride I quickly became a convert to three cylinders. The fours are smooth but don't offer real grunt coming out of the bends and sometimes the v-twins can be a little too lumpy. The Daytona gives the best of both world's with plenty enough torque without the typical four cylinder ...

Speed Four Review From An Owner
Advantages: Great performance, great brakes, excellent value, individual and rare Disadvantages: Lack of aftermarket parts, expensive parts
...could not find any non Triumph aftermarket parts anywhere so had to order them from Mr Triumph. All in all the plastics cost me £650 - which is very expensive. However, they come colour coded to the bike and with a fitting kit. They fit exactly and are quite easy to put on (unlike some after market body work I have bought in the past). The cost should be irrelevant since it is my pride and joy and I wouldn't put any old crap on it.
The riding experience ... ...to run quite hot. My Triumph dealer has told me that this is common with all the TT600 too.
Since the Speed Four is an unfaired sports bike it does not appeal to commuters (unlike most of its rivals), and does not appeal to the sports bike riders. It is a 'man-in-the-middle machine. Perhaps this is why the Speed Four never took off. It's styling seems to be something that you love or hate. The twin lights, alien style bikini fairing, vivd colours ...

Daytona 900 - Sports Tourer
Advantages: Triumph Brand. Good Finnish. Stable and predictable. Disadvantages: Heavy, long reach to bars, parts expensive.
...are expensive and servicing by Triumph is very expensive. (I was quoted £400 for a 12000 mile sevice). However the consumables are no more expensive than any other bike. I can recomend EBC sintered PADs as they transformed the brakes from lacking feel and bite to giving really good initial bite and a progressive feel. (some might find the initial bite a bit to much as you have to be a bit carefull applying them or you get quite a dive at the front). ... ...up locking it up, EBC pads didn't seem to help it much either.
The starter clutch had to be replace on my bike (this was done by the bloke I bought it off it cost him £500) apparently this is quite common on the early 900 triumphs, so watch out for it. It also had a new set of fork seals at 9000 miles so I guess they get through them fairly fast. It had just had a new rear tyer when I bought it and needed a front I have one recipt for a new set ...
