FourFourTwo: A Thinking Man's Football Magazine

Advantages: Excellent journalism and phoography. High quality production.
Disadvantages: Slightly expensive, but even that is stretching it.

...a well-known football formation – four at the back, four in midfield and two strikers up front (the poor goalkeeper is ignored as he is the one constant). FORMAT FFT, which is printed on glossy, high quality paper, comes out once a month and has a news-stand price of £4.10. As a subscriber, I pay £19 every six months by direct debit – a saving of 20% off the cover price. The magazine, which celebrates its 15th birthday this month, has a healthy ...
...There are three or four eagerly awaited special supplements a year, including the Top 100 Football Rich List, 100 Best League Players from the Championship and down the leagues, and the annual season preview. You also get a World Cup and European Championship supplement when these tournaments come around with a nice wall chart to keep tabs on proceedings. They also produced an Ashes supplement this year which was a welcome – if rather unexpected ...

Match Isn't Very Good

Advantages: Easy To Read For Children
Disadvantages: Match Man and His Slang

Match is suprisingly one of few football magazines around, especially, and all of them are monthly, but this is weekly. This magazine costs £1.60. Match is a glossy magazine with many pictures. Layout The layout of match is all over the place. The magazine is full of pictures which shorten the written side of the magazine. The magazine is really colorful. The writing in this mag is limited a lot of it is down to bullet points or text boxes. It ...
...have very complex writing in. Match gives out the news in a easy format unlike Shoot which is flooded with words. Another reason its popular is because it is cheep at £1.60 compare that to 4-4-2 hefty price tag of around £4-5 and you can see why the youngsters go for this. But i think the main reason for the good amount of fans is because there just simply isn't enough football magazine, so they all get a good share. Quality Of Pictures The pictures ...

The hardest hitting wrestling magazine in the UK

Advantages: NO Holds Barred Wrestling News
Disadvantages: Not for the casual fan

Powerslam magazine is, in my opinion, the best wrestling magazine around in the U.K. It holds unbiased views on the past months worth of wrestling. Unlike WWE magazine, it has information on all brands of wrestling, from WWE to TNA,IWW,ROH and Japan. There may be sarcastic comments with each picture, but that just adds another dimension to this fantastic magazine. There are articles that are written about the writers experiences, such as a trip ...
...readers to write in and ask questions about wrestling. there are 'Signs of the Month' and also dates of the big events in wrestling. A good column in the magazine is written by the 'heel' writer, Stately Wayne Manor. In it, he gives his opinion on all things wrestling, written in the characteristics of a wrestling heel. The value for money is good, depending on how valuable you think the information is. The cost is £2.90 (A lot for such a thin ...

Still Going Strong

Advantages: Wonderful analysis and insight and pleasing to read and very detailed
Disadvantages: Monthly publication makes it seem out of context at times.

World Soccer Magazine (WSM) is a long running (perhaps longest) international football magazine. The title reflects pretty much its aim except that they annoyingly use the word 'Soccer' instead of football despite the publication being British and having little to do with the U.S . Oh well, it's a corporate world we live in I suppose we just have to accept that fact. I began buying this magazine around the turn of the millenium when avid football ...
...had appeared on the front World Soccer Magazine. The first page as I remember it always contained a small introduction by the Editor (esteemed writer Gavin Hamilton) outlining the focus of the current edition of the magazine. The great thing about this magazine is that it has every inch of the globe covered. If there is a meaning football match played anywhere at any time you will find it somewhere in the WSM. Of course the magazine gives greater ...
