=== Who are Sports Soccer ? ===

Sports Soccer as their name suggests are a supplier of sporting equipment, clothing and accessories and are instantly recognisable by their distinctive Red White and Blue livery. You will generally find one in most major cities, and they operate very much at the lower end of the price scale. They are owned by Mike Ashley, who is also the owner of Newcastle United Football Club.

...market as other High Street Sports Stores including JJB Sports and JD Sports insofar as they sell all the top quality ranges including Nike, Adidas and Reebok for similar or slightly cheaper prices. Where they differ is in their sale of their own Donnay branded footwear which serves one principal purpose - it is cheap. The idea behind the store is to entice you in by looking at the better known brands, but then to get you to purchase their own cheaper ... more

...another one of those general sports store you come across in the town centres such as JJB, JD Sports etc. However, when you enter these stores there is one major difference, the one thing that sets it apart from the others. The price! You can purchase many many items at very reasonable prices and all of these are branded items such as the likes of Reebok, Adidas etc. For example I recently bought a new pair of Reebok trainers for work and paid £15 ...
...would expect from a major sports retailer. They have trainers, sports wear, casual wear, football shirts, coats, jackets, sports equipment. In fact there are not many things I can think off that you would want to find in a sports shop that they don’t have. They even stock ranges of things such as casual shirts as well as the usual sports type tops, in fact I just got a nice Lonsdale casual fleece jacket for only £15. However there is always a down ...

Sports Waste

Advantages: Cheap prices and large stores
Disadvantages: Generally ugly clothes

...now when a massive new Sports World (formerly known as Sports Soccer) opened in a new shopping park just outside of the usual shopping area in Cambridge, I was obliged to find out what it's like. This now not very newish Sports World isn't the only one Cambridge has to offer though, as there is also one in the centre of town - that's not too shabby in size either. What exactly do these shops have to offer? Well I'll be happy to let you know. With ...
...the time. Entering the new Sports World I immediately realised it would be almost impossible to bump into someone because that's just how big it is. As you enter the doors (and through the sneakily disguised security gate things, you know what I mean) there is a staircase straight in front of you. Got to start with the floor I'm on first though. It's not unusual to walk into a shop of Sports World nature and one of the first things you see being ...

THE ONE STOP SPORT SHOP

Advantages: good quality across the range, many top names at good prices
Disadvantages: too many queues, staff are largely morons

...This chain of Sports stores started life as Sport & Ski. Trading in Shopping Malls and stocking winter gear for the skier, in addition to general sports gear like T-Shirts, Polos, Sweats and Jackets. Also, there were always racks of trainers, football boots etc for both Adults and Children. This brought them a niche market. It was a shop you could kit little Johnny out for his new school with some respectable labels like Umbro,. Adidas and the now ...
...saw the stores re-branded as Sports Soccer, indicating the move towards trying to capture the huge Soccer ‘fashion’ market. You can get the latest kits here, plus sportswear with your club’s badge, logo, name or what have you. Unless, that is, you are a follower of a lesser club. You’ll not find many Crewe Alexandra branded shirts here, I guess. I assume the Chain must have the license for Donnay gear – or at least ...

Dunno about Soccer, I wanted to Sock Her

Advantages: Wide range of stock, large stores
Disadvantages: Staff have social skills comparable to a gerbil

...lose? So I ventured into Sports Soccer. This op is based on my experience today with the Milton Keynes branch. Others may be different, although frankly I rather doubt it. First impressions are important, and Sports Soccer certainly impresses. My local shopping centre features not one but TWO Sports Soccer stores – I plumped for the bigger one. The store advertises its presence with huge lit-up signs across its vast shop front, and baskets of footballs ...
...it’s big-name clothes you’re after, Sports Soccer is second only to JJB. It has huge stocks of all the big names – Adidas, Donnay, Nike, Donnay, Reebok, Donnay, you name it, they’ve got it, in a multitude of styles and colours. (I’m informed that Sports Soccer actually have some agreement with Donnay, which explains the prevalence of their slightly crappy gear in the stores.) The prices are pretty competitive too – I picked up two pairs of trousers ...

...have worked part time for Sports Soccer for a year and a month and I have to say I have enjoyed it. Since working there the store has had its bad times of no managers and it used to be like many of the stores that people have described on here (really disorganised) but now i have a new area manager and a new manager, who are both really good at their jobs. Luckily for me they recognised my hard work and they promoted me to part time supervisor/admin. ...
...can be used at any Sports Soccer store, so before you get annoyed, think, if you dont want the item you bought, there must be SOMETHING in the whole store that you or a relative might want. If your item is honestly faulty, that means a manufacturing fault, not that you don't like it, it will be shown to the manager and they will authorise a refund, as long as the customer has a receipt. So please don't get angry!! See, it's not that bad. We are quite ...

Sport & Soccer

Advantages: cheap, brand named sportswear
Disadvantages: usually very busy & crowded

Sport & Soccer is a great shop if you want to buy branded sportswear at a reasonable price. They sell a huge variety of tops, jumpers, tracksuit bottoms, trainers, footballs, bags, golf equipment, roller blades, hats, ski boots, and pretty much any other kind of sportswear in between. All of their goods are BRAND NEW and the latest (as in current style/current football strips/England shirts/trainers). They seem to buy in bulk, so they can offer very competitive prices, and as such, their prices are significantly less than in other sports shops such as JJB. Quite a large part of their stock consists of Donnay, or Umbro. And it is these makes that you can pick up really cheaply. T-Shirts for under £10 for men and women, and this range is especially good for young kids, as they are less style-conscious! I recently picked up ...

For Affordable Sportswear

Advantages: Good Price, nice selection
Disadvantages: Not full lines of brands

I was shopping over the weekend with my boyfriend, and never a pair to spend money, we headed into our favourite sportswear clothier, Sport Soccer. Its own brand, Donnay is of regular quality, includes, socks, underwear, jumpers, track bottoms, trainers and various sports equipment for below the average price. A training jumper cost only £8 while a department store brand top would cost me almost triple the price. Donnay offers a wide range of colours, sizes, styles and price. Their trainers are a good price for children's sizes, but you may want to be weary of the adult ones as the quality is a bit questionable. Of course, if you're looking for something to paint your house in, £16 for some trainers isn't bad at all! If it is a name brand item you are looking for, Sport Soccer carries them as well. Nike, Umbro, Adidas, Rebok ...

Bye Bye!!!

Advantages: It Was Close To Home
Disadvantages: It is being closed down:(

The Sport Soccer that was near me in Coventry up by the central six retail park is closing down, I don't know if they are all closing or just the one by me. I love that shop its amazingly cheap, sometimes it has its bad days and is really expensive but 90% of the time its great. I went in there once and was looking for a pair of trainers that I had seen just down the road in JJB for £89.99 and they were £69.99 in sport soccer, I couldn't believe it. But saying that I have been to First Sport and they had a pair of tracksuit trousers for £14.99 and Sport Soccer had them for £29.99, that put me off for a while. As you can tell I like to look for a bargain! The best bargains I have ever received are defiantly from Sport Soccer, just recently because of them closing they have been having a massive sale, starting with all 25% off ...
