Springbank Scotch Whisky

Springbank has the general reputation of having unique bottlings -- to be more precise, one bottling of the same 'brand' (12-year, 15-year, etc.) will often vary significantly from the previous. One will be more oily, the other more salty, the other more spicy, and so forth. I first bought a bottle of this particular malt as a Christmas present for my then girlfriend's father, a Scot whom I must admit I wanted to impress.
