The Springs was the first custom build spa in the UK, and it shows.... Getting from A to B, or should I say, from Gym to Beauty treatment room is easier than most Spas I have visited. The lay out of the Spa is very simple and the facilities are excellent. The gym has all the machines you will need, and the amasing array of classes will hone your body into perfect shape, the swimming area is peaceful, clean and beautiful with a whirlpool, sauna and steam room. The changing facilities provide all you could need, including la Zouch (the Spa's own brand of cosmetics) cleanser, toner, moisturiser and the cotton wool!
At this Spa, as with many others, you can experience lots of new beauty treatments and I would recommend that you try any that you don’t normally see on your local beautician’s price list... Thallaso therapy, where you and nine other people share a warm salt rich bath and move around various ‘jet’ areas is fantastic, the aim is to detoxify you body and believe me it does, draining all the rubbish from your system and making you feel wonderfully relaxed and rested. There are many other unusual therapies to try, so please don't stick to the 'usual' manicure, pedicure and facial!
The food at the Springs is also excellent, you have a salad bar, a pasta bar and a main hot dish, with dessert for lunch (which is included for overnight stays and day visits), you can eat as much as you like, knowing that it is all nutritionally balanced and not too calorific!
There are downsides to the Springs, if you are a day visitor, check in can be hectic, with you and twenty other people trying to get the receptionist attention... which can lead to a late start! Changing facilities for day visitors are cubicles with four lockers, so you could find that you can't get into your locker because one of the other cubicle occupants is using it, a tad frustrating when you need your cossie for aqua fit! And the beauty treatment booking is the worst, if you haven't booked in advance - forget it, go and use the facilities and make use of all the freebie classes etc. You cannot get a treatment for love nor money if you go on a Saturday without pre-booking and even if you do pre-book, who wants a manicure at the beginning of the day when you want to have a Thallaso therapy, go to aqua fit and spend an hour in the whirlpool? I refuse to pay £20 plus for a file and polish, when by the end of the day it will be chipped and flaked - the booking system makes no sense at all to me!
Watch out for the aromatherapy massage too, it is way too expensive (just under £50) and they use pre blended oils, so you don’t get the true advantages of this type of treatment.
There are various different packages available from the Springs, a Spa day which includes a Thalassic therapy for £65, right up to a week or two with lots of freebies included at hundreds of pounds. Always remember that to get value for money never, NEVER try and change your freebie treatments, the Springs will only credit you with £5 per treatment to upgrade to another..... Unbelievable when the list price is £20 or £30!
The Springs is easily accessable and is just of the M42 in Ashby de la Zouch, Leicester.
In summary I would recommend the Springs, it is clean, well set out and the acclivities are very good. Please do keep an eye on how much you are spending and as I already said to the get best value for money you need to book the latest or more 'way out' treatments.
