"50 Grams of Sugar?!"

Sprite is probably one of my favourite fizzy drinks and is a lovely alternative to lemonade. It's described by the manufacturer, Coca Cola, as a lemon and lime flavoured, caffeine free soft drink.

Sprite's been around for a while to say the least, as it was first introduced back in 1961.

Sprite is available in cans and plastic bottles, both of which have a green colour scheme.

The bottle is a traunslucent green with a thick srtrip of plasticy paper wrapped around it with the sprite logo on the front of the bottle and nutritional info on the back. The bottle's available in a variety of sizes.

The can has 'sprite' written across in in a clear font with a half lemon half lime above it. The colour of the can is green and blue with dashes of silver. The can is 330ml - the same size as a can of coke or pepsi.

Taste wise it's a very sweet lemonade taste with the hint of lime making it much tastier and more unusual than a usual lemonade drink. The smell is lemony and sweet. It's nice and fizzy and takes a few hours or so to go flat. It's a very refreshing drink and goes well in a glass with ice on a summery day, but is a nice little pick up to have with your pack up aswell. It's very sweet and sugary so not reccomended for anyone who prefers diet drinks as it's available in a lower calorie version which is called 'sprite zero'.

Prices vary but here are some accurate guidelines:
2 litre bottle: £2.60
6 x 330ml cans: £2.90
500ml bottle: £1.05

Overall you''re paying around the same price as you would for any other coca cola product. In my opinion it's a tad on the expensive side if you're a sprite fan and buying alot of it, but i've seen it various times in my local poundland at 2 x 500ml bottles for a pound, so i'd reccomend looking around.

The calories in Sprite are quite high at 44 calories per 100ml, with 10 grams of sugar. A 500ml bottle will set you back 220 calories and a huge 50 grams of sugar which is quite honestly shocking and before writing this review i had no idea how high the sugar actually was! It's certiannly made me decide that sprite's best for a treat and not to be drank in excess. As mentioned before though, low calorie versions are available which contain low calorie sweeteners instead of sugar.

Overall: Reccomended as long as you're not fussed about the high sugar.
