Better than Secret of Mana?

When I heard a few months ago that Square were planning to release a sequel to the totally absorbing Secret of Mana on the Playstation, I was licking my lips with anticipation. In the end, i decided that I just couldnt wait any longer- i just had to buy this game, even if it was the American version.
The intro sequence is brilliant- the developers have gone with similar graphics to Secret of Mana, but they look more like what youd get from a Terry Pratchet novel. The music is what you'd expect from a Mana game, but even better and it is orchestrated and recorded into the game, rather than synthetic, like with the Final Fantasy games.
The game itself is very non-linear but evolves round a single purpose- you have to rebuild a land that was destroyed over the course of centuaries by people desperately trying to get ever ounce of mana magic that they could get their greedy hands on. You do a variety of missions by means of obtaining artifacts and placing them on the world, and then meeting people and completing tasks as you go. This is done by means of a "world creation" system developed by Square specifically for this game.
Overall, this game is a truely immersive experience, there are so many things to do and find that you will play this game for many hours and really enjoy it. I just hope that Square decide to release this game in England, if they dont, BUY IT ON IMPORT, if you love RPG's you will love this game!
