The sad thing about the game is that there are relatively few young kids that play, this is probably an image thing - squahs gets very little TV airtime and is not profiled as a high earning sport like tennis.

The main reason I play squash is because I have an enormous appetite and so need to burn off lots calories in order to balance things out.

Most of the members of the opposing teams we play are, like me, in their forties - so, will the sport survive ? I don't see why not, there is no reason why a person staying fit cannot keep on playing unto their 60's. There is great social following friendship our team matches with the hosts laying on a nice spread of food and the occasional beer !
I suppose the greatest threat to the games existence is injuries, these certainly increase in both frequency and severity as the years clock up. A full warm-up is essential before and after each match.
Perhaps for me the best things about squash besides the strenuous workout is the fact that you can leave home, play, wash, shower and travel home all within a couple of hours - football used to take up most of the day, this didn't go down well with the family.
The game is fast, fun and inexpensive, So come on you 20 and 30 year olds, give it a try - I promise you won't be disappointed.
Advantages: Improves your stamina, tones your body, stretches muscles and provides fun and exhilaration Disadvantages: Court prices are quite high.
Our family sport is Squash - my father, mother, and older brother and sister all play to a high standard. At the age of 11, my parents thought it was time to coach and train me at our local sports centre.
14 years on, I have gone from strength to strength, and I find squash to be one of the most physically demanding activities a person can do.

A squash ball is typically green in colour, but there is usually a tiny coloured dot on this ball unless you play with a white or a double dotted ball. This coloured dot signifies the level of skill of the player and the difficulty of using that ball. The varying dots are as follows:
Blue - For Beginner level players. The ball is easy to return because it bounces very high, whether or not the ball is warmed up. No need to run ...

Advantages: energetic, great for burning calories, a game which can be played by families or couples Disadvantages: some injuries can't be avoided but no pain, no gain!
I love squash as a game. Its on of the few sports you can have a decent workout on your own. Just book yourself a court and hammer the ball against a wall. Gets rid of the stress, burns the calories (about 750 clas per 45 minute session), increases the heart rate and just makes you feel knackered and destressed.

As some will tell you, it can be dangerous as a result of hurtling round a small court at full pelt stretching for balls and hitting yourself against walls. My wife has hit me more than a few times with stinging shots where the ball has hit me on the back, the side, the back of the head and once, ...

...around 1830, the game of squash came about when the pupils discovered that if playing Rackets with a punctured ball, which was "squashed" on impact, a new game was created that involved a higher skill level and a far wider range of shots than Rackets, its predecessor. THE GAME:
Squash is played on an indoor court, the floor area of which is 62.4 square metres. The whole floor is the playing area, as are most of the walls: the playing area of the walls slopes down from the far end of the squash court to the serving end.
The walls themselves are solid, usually made of brick or ...

Advantages: really friendly Disadvantages: absolutely none at all
The Birmingham Squash Rackets Centre based on Rotton Park Road in Edgbaston is certainly the best sporting establishment I have ever visted. (and I have been to a fair few!!) The club facilities include 7 squash courts, 2 gyms, sauna and sunbed as well as running highly successfull football and squash teams. The club combines fitness with fun and the social side of the club is the most friendly I have ever encountered. It seems to have become a second ...

...owner of the Head Ti160 squash racket. I look for a strong racket and as this is quite "chunky" i selected this one. I had a knock up and it seemed very powerful. I bought this for £90 which was quite expensive you can now buy one for £60. The racket weighs 160 grams which is about average. It looks good and is easy to restring. However this racket is not as strong as some rackets because it is made of titanium. I am now on my third Head Ti 160 each ...

Advantages: Tasty, easy to make Disadvantages: Butternut squash can be a little expensive
don?t like it to be too thick but it is really down to personal choice. The soup is an orangey colour but might change according to the vegetables used. The taste of the soup is delicious the butternut squash has its own unique flavour, quite sweet and nutty and I find that the green pepper helps to alleviate the sweetness of the butternut squash. I have also made the soup using a red pepper but found that it was just a bit too sweet for my palette. The courgette adds some additional volume and texture without overpowering the butternut squash.
Generally I have the soup before my dinner as an appetiser and find it is just enough to take the edge off my appetite whilst my dinner is cooking, whilst not being too filling. Sometimes I have the soup at lunchtime with a roll and because it is ?free soup? only the roll counts towards my daily ...
the company. We huddled around Mark's office, eagerly awaiting what was so important.
"There's no easy way to say this," Mark began, visibly shaken, "I've got some terrible news," he paused briefly before he broke the news to us: "Sam Hoole died last night". I looked around the room to see shocked and stunned faces. I myself took a few moments for the news to register. A sufferer of epilepsy, Sam had had a fit during the night, his partner, who also works for the company, had been with him but it seems nothing could have been done to help him.
Sam was only young, still in his mid-thirties. A healthy man, active and without any "major vices". He drank, but never to excess, he smoked socially, but he went running, took his son swimming, played squash and generally kept himself in good shape.
He wasn't the most popular of people in work ...
Advantages: Smells so amazing Disadvantages: Doesn't lather as well as I would like, but then that might just be me
for frequent use on normal hair and it has a little blue rectangle on the front telling me this. It is available without conditioners added and also for different types of hair (indicated in different colours) so look out for the right type for you.
The shampoo is quite creamy and white (?not comparing it to anything here!) and I do find I need quite a lot as my hair is so long. I also have to wash it at least twice to get it nice and clean, but then I find that with any shampoo.
This lathers up reasonably well. Not as well as I would like but then that could also be down to time spent on it (generally in a squash court communal shower you want to get in an out as quick as possible!) rather than a problem with the shampoo brand.
The one thing I do love about this shampoo is it smells amazing. Good enough to eat in fact although I wouldn ...
