Advantages Advantages Nice smell that isn't too pungent

Disadvantages Disadvantages took a few days to get used to it

Hi, my name is Squeaky Green and I start my diary being lovingly placed in a beautiful basket with lots of my brothers and sisters in a lovely Lush store in Stratford and two long haired teenagers come running in, shortly followed by their short haired Mum. Day 1 The youngest girl turns to her Mum and the conversation goes something like this ‘but we never come into Lush Mum, you hate the smell of it’ ‘I know, but I’ve read hundreds of review on their products and thought we’d give it a go’ My heart sank, this was clearly a woman who didn’t love our products, had never even been into a Lush ... more

    Advantages Advantages Smells nice

Disadvantages Disadvantages Left me with greasy roots and covered in herbs

I had a shaky start with shampoo bars, using one from Burt's Bees which matted my hair so badly it nearly put me off for good. After conquering my fears and trying the Seanik shampoo bar from Lush last year, and finding it to be quite good, I decided to try another one, and purchased their Squeaky Green bar. I should explain the whole shampoo bar concept before I go any further. As I'm sure you can guess, it's simply shampoo in bar form! There are several benefits to using a solid shampoo over a liquid one - first, they have no packaging, so they're good for the environment. Second they're ... more

Advantages Advantages cleansing, gets rid of grease, smoothes hair, environmentally friendly, long lasting

Disadvantages Disadvantages gritty bits inside the bar, drying on ends of hair

One of the items that attracted me to Lush was their solid shampoo bars. A friend recommended them to me years ago and I was curious enough to go in and check them out. I've tried several different types and I'm currently halfway through a Squeaky Green bar. This is available from Lush stores on the high street, or online at www.lush.co.uk and cost £4.65 for a 55g bar. Lush say: "Beat flakiness and purify skin with rosemary, nettle and peppermint. Your hair is immediately transformed by the antibacterial tea tree. It really goes back to the basics of effective hair care. Everything in balance ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages frizz

If I'm honest, I have never really liked the idea of shampoo bars as I didn't think they would really work. Although I was pleasantly surprised by this one which was recommended to me by someone working at Lush. A shampoo bar is basically as it sounds - a bar of shampoo. A shampoo bar lasts longer than a bottle and it really works to help your hair without all the chemicals. It is basically a packaging free, environmentally friendly, easier option to your average shampoo bottle. I really love the way shampoo bars are so natural and full of hair goodness! Suitable for vegans and helpful to ... more

Advantages Advantages Cleans hair very well, value for money, gentle on scalp

Disadvantages Disadvantages A little drying for my hair

I am gradually trying to work my way through as many Lush products as I can, including hair products except for the ones that are obviously unsuitable for my hair type. Some of my favourite Lush hair products are the shampoo bars, as they are portable, easy to use and a bit different as well as being handy to take on holiday. I tend to buy two at a time as I can pick up a free shampoo bar tin to keep it in! The shampoo bar I am using at the moment is Squeaky Green. This bar was the first to be made with the 'noodles' of shampoo that are pressed together in a circular mould to form the new ... more
