Advantages: Great sound, sturdy, easy to use Disadvantages: Only runs off mains power
Before I got my iPod and sounddock, I was one of those who refuses to subscribe to the technological revolution. Prefering hi-fi and compact disc to the digital music phenomenon. However, within a week (once I'd worked out how to use it), I was hooked on my iPod and once I got the sound-dock, there was no turning back. I think it's fairly safe to say that the era of compact disc players and tape decks is over... The only reason I still have a normal cd player in my house is to listen to the radio, and those few albums that I just haven't got around to putting on my iPod yet.
The Bose sound-dock is a piece of mastery in the area of audio technology. Beautiful, sleek and streamlined; it's large frontal speaker provides both volume and sound quality. The music I play on the sound-dock sounds almost incomparably better than CDs ...
Advantages: Pure Sound, Great Bass, Suprising Volume! Disadvantages: None
I did not expect this level of sound quality from such a small speaker! The Bose SoundDock is a small, compact speaker system for the Ipod range. It has great looks, amzing sound quality and suprising power!
There are two different sound docks.. the first one was basically a plug in speaker system just for use with the ipod, perfectly good for anyone who is looking for amazing quality. This one costs £199. The second one they bought out, which i have also got, is the same system apart from it has few extra features. It has a rechargable battery so you can listen to it on the move, it has a carry handle built into the back for ease of transportation, the dock is on a rotating platfrom so it can be made to fit flush to the dock and then open at a touch and then most importantly it has a 3.5mm Aux input that now the user is not limited ...
Advantages: Sonic Fury great range of features Disadvantages: Budget buys
There's a wealth of riches out there in sound cards these days. Where once you could make two real choices (either SoundBlaster or Gravis), now there's a multitude of viable options. Which is great, except of course that choosing what's exactly right for you isn't easy.
We'd have to say that as far as gaming goes, which is the area in which sound really counts, the 3Dsound standard of the moment is EAX. A3D still has a future without a doubt, and it produces wonderful true 3Dsound, but it has lost ground since last year against the competition. With that in mind, both the Fortissimo and SonicFury look very attractive cards, as does the SB Live! Platinum, but that's a separate issue, given its price.
As a low cost card, the Fortissimo is excellent value for money and offers a good range of features, including EAX. The real gem ...
