DONT BUY Musso 602 Good... |

The Musso I have is a 602 1998 model. I have had it for 135,000 km. The vehicle it self is excellent. The gearbox and gear change is horrible. The dealer from whom I bought it refurbished the gearbox. 70000 km latter the same problem reoccurred when main drive packed up again a caused major damaged to the rest of the box. R18000 later it was back in service. The cost was pushed up by very high spare prices from local Musso dealer. Any spares are very expensive always double the price of any competitive 4x4. I always said Toyota was expensive. The Musso Viscose fan clutch cost double the price of Toyotas. On the Musso you cannot get any kits like slave cylinder and master cylinders, gearshift bushes you have to buy complete units. That is if you are in Gauteng province. Outside that God helps you. I say do not buy stay away not the vehicle fault, the agents are the problem.

Stay away from Renault too. We had gearbox problems andf high servicing costs. If they have to order in parts it can take months to get. Some very useful points you have mentioned already but It may be helpful if you could also add a little more detail such as what the car is like to drive? Its handling? any problems? servicing? costs/intervals, insurance maybe this will help potential consumers realise the real cost of maintenance/ownership etc? This will help consumers make a more informed purchasing decision. If you do update anything please let me know via my guestbook, Fionaxx
