The reason i chose St Tropez
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I chose St Tropez as it is a well known brand and i know alot of people who also use it. It also gives a very nice colour and i know it is not going to make me go orange!Application
~~~~~~~
< br/> The first step to your perfect St Tropez tan is the body polisher.
Make sure you exfoliate on the morning of your tan, this will ensure that your tan lasts as long as possible.
The second step is the body moisturiser. This must be applied liberally before applying your tan. Make sure you moisturise all dry areas such as knees, elbows, hands feet knuckles etc and anywhere else that you are prone to dry skin.
The third step is your tan itself, i always wear gloves to stop my palms getting covered. It is best to start with your feet and work your way up your body. The mist is coloured so you can see where you are applying it and can rub it in to guarantee no streaks. Make sure you leave the tan to dry for around 15-20 minutes before going to bed, it takes around 3 hours for your tan to intensify. Then shower in the morning to rinse of any excess product from your skin. This will also stop the product rubbing off on your clothes during the day. Make sure you moisturise after your shower.
Reapplying and Maintaining your tan.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Make sure you moisturise your skin daily as this will stop spotting and will allow your tan to fade evenly. To keep up your tan looking good, apply 2-3 times a week and exfoliate once or twice a week.How much does it cost?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The body mist usually costs around £15-£20 but i managed to get an excellent deal from Watt brothers, I got the whole set (polisher, moisturiser and mist) for £19.99!! It can be quite expensive but i think it is worth it as i dont have to worry about being streaky or orange.
Frequently asked Questions
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here are some questions that are often asked about the product
What do I need to do to prepare my skin before applying the product?
You will need to exfoliate the skin thoroughly, and then moisturise difficult areas only, such as knees, ankles, elbows etc.How dark is it on really fair/pale skin?
For people with really fair skin the product will give them a natural healthy glow, for a deeper tan a second application may need to be applied. The tan will look darker on people with olive skin for example.
What should I wear whilst I'm waiting for the tan to develop?
It is advised to wear loose baggy clothing, so the tan does not rub off by abrasive clothing.How long should I wait before showering?
A minimum of 3 hours.
Does the tan go orange?
No. The formulation has a tint of green in it which prevents the tan from going orange.How long will the tan last for?
Some people report tans lasting up to two weeks. On average we recommend that a tan will last a minimum of 7 - 10 days.
Do you think I should attend a salon first before using the product myself?
Many customers use the product confidently at home and achieve success by following the instructions accurately. If you would feel happier attending a salon at first, to get use to the nature of the product and how it applies, for the first time and then top up at home in future.Will it wash off?
Only if you attempted to bathe before the tan was fully developed, during the four-hour period. Once the tan has developed you can shower and bathe as normal.
Can I go swimming?
Swimming in the sea on holiday is fine. However, swimming in baths is not advised as chlorine bleaches the tan.Can I sunbathe with this product?
The self-tan product has no SPF factors in it. Therefore normal protection products would need to be applied on top to sunbathe.
Does the product smell?
The product has a pleasant aromatic scent.Can vitiligo sufferers use this product?
Yes. Vitiligo sufferers find that this product does help to cover their condition and we have produced a set of application directions specifically for vitiligo sufferers.
I am allergic to other self-tanning products; will I be allergic to this product?
It is very likely that you are allergic to the DHA's present in self-tan products. The St. Tropez self tan also has these present.What i think
Personally i love this product as i love the colour and how even the application is. Im not too bothered about the price either as there are more expensive brands out there and some of them dont even come close to St Tropez. I love this product and would recommend it to anyone. Summary: A great even tan with an excellent colour
Advantages: Easy 'pat & dab' application Disadvantages: You need to be a bit bendy!
Walking through a large department store with my Mum we stopped at the St Tropez display stand as I was telling her about how good the St.Tropez products were when all of a sudden my Mum was pounced upon by a black-clad rep and asked if she'd like to have her bare arms sprayed. Caught like a rabbit in headlights she had no choice but to agree and before she knew it she was perched on a very high stool and a crowd had gathered to point and watch.
... ...they used a compressed airgun to apply the product but it gave an instant tan, didn't smell chemically and dried in the blink of an eye. The rep explained how best to apply the product - you get best results if you 'spray and pat' with a St Tropez mitt (although a flannel would do the same job) and not 'spray and wipe / rub' or you'd end up streaky. Being the easily led person that I am, I bought a bottle (£30 for 270ml). Being of saner mind and ...
Advantages: Natural look, no 'false tan' smell Disadvantages: Application isn't as easy as I'd hoped
I grew up with naturally olive skin and people telling me all the time how lucky I was not to suffer the angst of the dreaded pasty look. Yet when I reached my late teens, I started to take an interest in the concept of tanning. Foreign holidays left me looking sun-kissed and healthy, and feeling confident enough to head out with my skin naked of makeup. Unfortunately it would only last a couple of weeks at the most so soon I started to make regular ... ...on the sunbed.
As I've got older, I've begun to take the dangers of the sun more seriously, particularly the negative ageing effects. I've been consumer testing a variety of products but many have left me orange, patchy, smelly and unstisfied with the result. Not to be defeated and inspired by the glowing results achieved by celebrities, I decided to splash out and try St Tropez.
I invested £20 in a 270ml bottle of Instant Self Tanning Bronzing ...
Advantages: Really Natural Looking Tan Disadvantages: A Bit Pricey (but worth it)
Unfortunately being a gay male I have to compete with the body beautiful's of this world and so have spent most of my teens onwards looking for the perfect false tan.
Well at last I think I've found it.
I've tried everything from Soltan, Pizz Buin, Clinique non-streak bronzer (a.k.a gravy browning) and I have to say that the St Tropez mist is definately the best.
The average price is approx £30 and although it's probably more expensive than the ... ...can get Piz Buin for about £15 but who wants to look orange? (unless your that duke off the antiques programme).
Unlike a lot of other tanning products, this one does actually give you a natural looking tan. Quite a dark brown colour (depending on how long you leave it on). Some tanning products are great for boosting an existing tan but not so good on pale white skin. This one on the other hand is ideal for both. The spray is a fine water like ...
Advantages: The streak free tanning effect and very advatageous as you can see where you are putting the product Disadvantages: Drys very fast which can sometimes be too fast to keep up with and can cause streaks if not fast enough
I have used the St Tropez bronzing mist and have found it to be the best tanning prduct that I have ultimatley used to date. I have used many tanning products from products such as Le Tan and nutrogenas version of a fake tan and before trying the Jungle Bronze self tanner and it was also very good but this St Tropez Bronzer is even 100 times better. I now have all my friends using it, It does not leave you with that horrible smell that most self ... ...advantage of being tinted so you can see exactly where you are placing it on your body and get the perfect "natural looking" tan, and no sun cancer needed. Basically I exfoliate and moisturise about half an hour before using it I then use gloves to buy the product, and you can use any decent gloves, moisturiser and gloves. I have not tried the St Tropez ones but I dont think they really would make any difference as you can achieve the same result ...
Advantages: Brand name used by celebs Disadvantages: Doesnt last very long
Having heard lots of review on the amazing at Tropez I decided to give it a go myself. Having used several other self tanning creams to no avail I decided to go and get the St Tropez mist treatment applied in a salon, I need something to help this pastey skin.
I enter the salon and explain I am here for my treatment. I am taken into a small room and given a pair of paper knickers, yes I did say paper, they reminded me of the tracing paper loo roll ... ...and not too comfortable either and was told to get undressed and put on my wonderful knickers but hey I was not on a fashion show I was being tanned.
Anyway the beautician came into the room and asked me to stand in the middle of the room with my arms slighty lifted, felt as though I was in a yoga class rather than a beauty salon. Then she began to spray me with this mist, working all around my body, over my face, down my chest, stomach, thighs ...
