The Blonde fake tans. If she didn't, she'd be paler than that famous Annie Lennox tune. Having suffered over the last 6 months a range of tans, of all styles of application and all colours from Nubian Night (Seriously, I'm not joking, that's what it was called) to pale bronze, the St Tropez was decided upon as the best.
Now, you may wonder how on Earth I know how easily this applies, and that the pump sticks once you have used it a couple of times. Well, in the quest for non-streaky tan (A grail amongst womankind apparently) I am enlisted to don a bodyshop tanning mitt and tan the back of The Blonde.
So yes, the foam goes eaily onto the mitt and if applied in circular motions (Think Wax Off, Wax On from The Karate Kid) then you get a beautiful even application.
The pump does stick though and there is a tendency for the bottle to leak the staining element of the fake tan, and trying to get dried droplets of this off a wooden floor is no mean feat, so it's probably best to stand on an old towel.
The "tint" (I've been told that this is a technical term) is clear and allows you to clearly see where you have applied tan and what parts are missing and it fades as soon as you have a shower, or just dries into the skin. The tan itself is a beautiful golden colour, and unlike most fake tans, doesn't look obviously fake. Naturally, this does depend on picking the right colour. Choosing Nubian Night when you have platinum blonde hair and blue eyes is going to lead to disaster.
The bottle itself has about 10 or 11 full body applications for an all over tan on a size 10, 5 foot 8 blonde, each application lasting 3-5 days depending on the amount of physical activity, showers (Aside from the standard 1 a day. The Blonde has been known to manage 3 or 4 showers in a day)
The bottle itself is fairly non-descript. It tells you what it is, how to apply it and what's in it. It's blue and white with clear lettering and is quite nicely understated.
It is more expensive than other fake tans however. This particular bottle is about £30 from Harvey Nicks, although shopping on the Internet you could probably find it a bit cheaper.
It's always hard to recommend a particular tan to a particular person because everyone has different skin types, tones and shades. The Blonde has typically normal skin. It doesn't get too oily or too dry and she moisturises every day, so that probably has an effect on the absorption.
For ease of application, lasting effects and the alikes, this definitely is a decent product.
Oh, one final thing. Don't apply it if you have white bed sheets then go to bed. you will have a lovely tan patch in the morning. It does wash out easily though.
Advantages: as on review - colour, application, shade range, versatility, blending Disadvantages: Price but I don't mind paying for excellent goods, smell is a bit weird!

All that is really required is a little scrubbing and exfoliation of the skin beforehand, whether eaely that morning or 10 mins before! Also, moisturiser can come in handy on any rough areas - the tanning mousse, like most others, finds it hard to absorb into the skin where the surface is rough or at least rougher than usual. What a mouthful!
The bottle is not particularly striking or attractive when you see it in the shop but when you get it home you realise it is certainly well designed. It is made of thick plastic with the name 'Whipped Bronze' and small StTropez logo on the front. It is green and white with black writing and has a fat nozzle dispenser on the top for ease of application. The dispenser is easy to use and not at all stiff to press down so you can use as much or as little as you want at a time. It also has a lid on top of that in order that the bottle doesn't leak, or press itself when it's in storage ...

Well, the hairs I can deal with - out with the razor and hey presto a hair-free zone.
There's not much I can do about the flab - I'll resign myself to that one - even if I do step exercises for the next three days there is no way I'll make any difference.
As for the white … well unless the British summer actually puts in an appearance I'm going to have to change this by artificial means.
