I am always a bit sceptical about self-tanning products. I have tried about three of them so far and always ended up with very uneven strange orangey or dark brown colour. On one occasion it was sooo bad that I couldn’t wear a skirt for a week because whatever I tried I just couldn’t wash it off!!!
I have decided to give this product a chance after seeing it in every fashion magazine on the market.
First of all I have to say it is expensive!! I paid £29.95 for my 240ml instant self-tanning mouse at Harrods. I think the actual sun tanning lotion is a bit cheaper. The main difference between the mousse and the lotion is the time it takes to dry and the colour of the product. The mousse is much easier to use!
1) It is very easy to apply!!! So the product gets top marks just for that. The mousse itself already has a light brown colour so you can see where you have applied it and avoid ending up with streaks. It says on the bottle that it dries in about 60 seconds and it really does!!! This means there is no need to walk around the house naked for three hours in order to avoid the cream getting everywhere!!
2) The colour develops in about three hours and it is soo realistic! No orangey or dark brawny colours mentioned above. It is very difficult to describe the actual colour, sort of medium brown – just perfect!!
3) The tan lasts for about four days, so it gets a bit expensive if you want to maintain it. I think one bottle should contain just enough for five applications, so you need to buy one every five or six weeks to look always tanned.
4) The smell is fine, not very strong and definitely not off-putting!!
All my flatmates liked the colour so much, that everyone in my flat looks like we all have been on the same holiday (at my expense). Now I have to go and get a new bottle!!!

Advantages: nice fragrance, relatively easy to apply. Disadvantages: turned out orange on my own skin, is not completely even and streak free, expensive, messy.
