Dilema,

Just been on holiday, have come back with a great tan, but not as great as you expected and it is fading fast because of the terrible English weather!

Solution: St Tropez self tanning lotion

So I paid just over £50 for St Tropez Step 1 (Exfoliant), Step 2 (moisturiser) and Step 3 (Auto Brozant).

As I found out later, if you follow the instructions on the bottle, you should get a good result. For a virgin self tanner (which I was), it all looks a bit daunting after having paid out so much money!

I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for and once again I have been proven right.

So Step 1, I am standing in the bathroom covered in exfoliator, with my poor boyfriend standing behind me exfoliating my back for me.

Step 2, carefully moisturising every part that might go a little bit dry or dodgy

Step 3, we get to the no turning back stage! I mix the bronzant half and half with the moisturising cream, and start slapping it on my legs. Martin is now looking at me as if I am loopy but he is prepared to go along with it if it keeps me happy!

Covering legs and body, Martin covering my back, even face neck etc etc. This is where I feel that it is all going horribly wrong. I look like I have been thrown in a muddy puddle and it has all dried on me! I thought, no way is this going to work, I am going to have to cover up until I have managed to shed a layer of skin! But it says on the bottle, don't worry if you are a little streaky, it will come out in the shower the next day. I was unsure, but it was too late now.

I go to bed in the spare room as there is no way Martin wanted to cuddle up to a mud monster! In the morning I take a bath and the water turns brown, and I cannot wait to see the results.

I was very surprised, the tan I already had was definitely boosted back to a lovely golden brown. The bottle was right, the muddy brown patches and the few streaks that were on my arms legs, and tummy were gone, all that was left over was a nice even and very golden tan.

No streaks. No tell tale signs of a fake tan.

I look natural, so much so I can't wait to have another go the next night to make it go darker.

A few helpful tips:-

1. Always wear gloves
2. Never apply fresh cream to your feet, just add a touch of moisturiser to the excess on your gloves and smooth into your feet, being careful to grab a tissue to wipe it away from the cuticles of your toes.
3. If you are going to mix the colour to stronger than half colour half moisturiser, remember never to put this on the inside of your arms or your neck or face. Only ever colour the inside of your arms, neck and face in half and half otherwise you could end up looking a bit silly!
4. Never apply to your eyelids, if you get any there by mistake, grab a tissue and wipe it off.
5. Once you have applied to the whole of your body, it is time to do your hands last, rub on the product and then grab a tissue to remove it from your palms and the insides of your fingers.
6. To exfoliate your face, add a little exfoliator to your cleanser and rub in.

This used to be a salon only product and it shows in the bottles, white with black labels, not exactly the most interesting. It is not going to jump off the shelve and say take me. Your eye may be drawn to the other products on the shelf which are more pleasing to the eye and a lot kinder on your pocket. I guess it is a bit like the expensive make ups, never advertised, they certainly believe this product is going to sell itself. And they would be right, it is jumping off the shelves, every time I walk into the shop, there is hardly any left.

So down to the nitty gritty, the price of this product is rather high, very much more expensive than the other brands. However, if used once a week, on average, the bottle of bronzant should last a good six to twelve weeks.

I was nervous the first time I used St Tropez, I had heard so many self tan horror stories, streaky orangey un-natural looking colour. I must have been desperate to keep my tan I paid so much on holiday for.

If you keep up the work, exfoliating every three days, moisturising every day you will keep the tan looking a very dazzling natural.

This product is well worth the money, simple to use, hassle free and great results.

What more can I say, don't be scared, pay a bit extra and get real results.

I haven't tried this out yet but am no virgin to fake tans - I have heard many good reports on this one.

Well, what can I say. It certainly does exactly what it says on the tin. When Tiggy first bought this stuff and told me how much it had set her back, I almost passed out. But if it makes her happy, then I'm all for it. The results truly were superb.....almost to the point I would've given it a go myself as my tan was being left behind by Tiggy's. This review is spot on.....even down to me helping exfoliate! (honey, I can't believe you put that info out on the internet!)
