I bought St Tropez Self Tan Lotion, after reading many reviews swearing that it was the best self tan product they had ever used. I was excited that finally, I might be able to have a natural, flawless tan instead of a patchy orange disappointment. St Tropez SelfTan Lotion turned out to produce the latter result.
I shaved my legs the day before, exfoliated in the morning (especially my knees, wrists, hands, ankles, feet), moisturised about 3 hours before, and then applied the product using gloves and mixing with a small amount of moisturiser around my ankles, knees, feet, elbows, wrists, hands. It took a long time to apply, because even though I could see where I was putting it, the self tan didn't seem to want to stay on, I didn't even rub it in, but it started clumping together and then drying leaving some of that area white and some with dark, dried, clumped fake tan.
For something I had paid $60 Australian dollars for (I bought the larger bottle because the sales assistant said that I would run out too quickly with the smaller because of my height - 5'8 - and also I'd read all these great reviews) this was one of the worst I'd ever applied. I wet a tissue after applying and took of any dark, dark areas such as toes, knuckles, knees and then waited around 10minutes before putting my loose clothing on.
After 6 hours, and just before bed, I washed off the tan. I didn't see too much brown liquid going down the plughole, just orangey/red tinted water. When I stepped out of the shower, I expected to see a glamourous, tanned beauty, and all I saw was an orangey, obvious false tan! My knees were extremely dark, even though I had exfoliated and moisturised them extra heavily. Till this day (around 3 weeks later) after much exfoliating still, I have dark patches on my knees - something I have never experienced with any other sunless tanner.
I definitely do NOT reccommend St TropezSelf Tan Lotion, however there have been good reviews, so if it worked for them, then it might work for you. But I think you could probably get a cheaper brand and a better result, Garnier seem to have a new false tan out that comes with a scrub and tan. I've tried that and it was lighter and much more believable. I might also try Fake Bake which I have seen advertised everywhere. Good luck with your tanning and I will continue my quest to find a good self tanner! xx [EDIT: After reading your comments on my review (thank you very much to you all!) I thought I might give a small update! I did once again try St Tropez Self Tan Lotion, and I applied moisturiser (this time I used Palmers Cocoa Butter moisturiser) again before applying the fake tan to my knees and dry areas, but unfortunately I got the same result. The dark patches on my knees are finally becoming less noticeable, but I have sworn off St Tropez (at least this lotion) for the time being. However, I do recommend a new self tanner which I have tried, and that is Ella Bache Great Tan Without Sun. I'd heard it advertised and the lotion looked a lot like St Tropez which worried me. However, it was a lot easier to apply, even faster to dry and when I woke up the next morning and showered - I did indeed have a pretty natural looking self tan! I couldn't find anywhere on Ciao to review it, but if you live in Australia (I'm not sure if its available anywhere else) - I recommend it!]

I had a bottle of this that I picked up dirt cheap at a car boot sale for 50p. I looked at the colour of it and thought "no way" so I sold it on Ebay. I got £15 for it lol glad I sold it now x

Review of St. Tropez Self Tan Lotion
Advantages: nice fragrance, relatively easy to apply. Disadvantages: turned out orange on my own skin, is not completely even and streak free, expensive, messy.
