St Tropez Self Tanning Cream

Prepared to look my best for the birth of this child (whenever that might be) I have gone the whole hog and done everything possible to myself in order for me to appear more glamorous than ever. One step in my bid for glamour has been getting out the St Tropez fake tan and after one application I am certainly looking a lot healthier.

I have had a bottle in my cupboard for a little while now and I used to apply it on a regular basis. I find that with a tan you can appear far sexier, slimmer and definitely more like you have been out in the sunshine (which with my swollen feet I most certainly have not). I paid around £10 for this 120ml bottle of the self-tanning cream, which is a good price for something of this quality. You can find St Tropez for sale in most places and the prices can vary slightly, I find it always best to keep on the look out for a special offer as otherwise it can seem rather expensive if you are using it regularly.

The main aspect of using any fake tan is to make sure you have exfoliated extremely well before applying anything. Making sure you concentrate on the dodgy areas such as the knees, elbows, neck and anywhere else dry skin can be a problem. If you don’t exfoliate then the self-tan will appear a lot thicker and darker in these places and you can look very patchy in appearance. I tend to always stick to the St Ives apricot scrub rather than buying the St Tropez one as I find the St Ives works a lot better for my skin as the scrub seems to be slightly more aggressive.

Making sure that after exfoliating is done I have rinsed myself well and the moisturised all over with a fairly thin but not too thin moisturiser. I find using thick moisturisers take forever to soak into the skin and you do have to wait for the moisturiser to have fully sunk in before applying the St Tropez otherwise the cream will move about and is far easier to rub off.

Applying the St Tropez couldn’t be easier but I would advise on wearing a pair of rubber gloves to stop the palms of your hands becoming orange. I start from my toes and work all the way up to my face making sure every inch of my body is covered in the dark brown cream that is the St Tropez fake tan. It is easy to see where you have applied this stuff to because of the dark brown colouring that the cream is. Where as some fake tans are just a clear cream and you can often miss parts of your body if you are not careful this cream allows you to see exactly where you have applied.

Another good thing about using St Tropez compared to other self tanning creams is that even if you apply the cream and it appears to be streaky you don’t have to worry because as long as the St Tropez is applied all over when you shower the cream off the tan itself will not appear streaky at all. This is the reason I think why St Tropez is the number one self-tanning cream available and most of the celebrities will choose to use this over the other brands.

The idea is to leave the cream on for at least three hours before rinsing it off. You are able to sleep in the cream but be prepared for messy sheets, even though it washes out with no problems at all the mess is still a little shock and I would advise to apply it with plenty of time before going to bed so you don’t have to deal with the mess it makes. I tend to leave it on for a little over three hours to try and get the best results from it. Before rinsing off it is quite scary how brown in colour the skin appears but once the cream itself has been rinsed away it reveals a fabulous streak free natural looking tan. St Tropez claims to work with your own skin tones to give you the best looking tan as close as possible to what your own natural tan would look like and this I really do believe to be true.

I have always found that I have no streaks when using this product and the tan does appear very real like. There is no orange glow rather that of a wonderfully skin kissed skin. If you have applied the cream correctly you should end up with an all over perfect looking tan.

I am always dead pleased with the results that I get when using this product and that is why I would never dream of using a different fake tan ever again. The product is so simple to use if done correctly and the results truly are amazing.

The tan itself usually lasts around two to three weeks as long as you keep your skin lovely and soft by moisturising every day otherwise the tan may appear patchy as your skin begins to get dry. The results really do speak for themselves on this product and I would recommend it to everyone wanting that perfect looking tan from a bottle. It is so much better than sitting out baking in the sun for hours, as it is not doing the skin and harm at all. The bottle has a good number of applications in it and will last you for a good many months if used correctly. Go on give it a go this summer!

Your name came up on the front page this morning, so I am checking out some of your reviews. This stuff sounds good, I would still be worried about the bits that can't be reached though!

Advantages: Will give you a dark tan, if that is what you are after.
Disadvantages: Can be too dark for some. Not exactly 'foolproof'. Price.
