I use this product regularly and think it is the best fake tan of them all!
My best results have been when I exfoliate before and moisturise 3 hours before applying the tan. So I recommend doing this before you fake tan. Most of the time I skip this step as it still does acheive excellent results. I think it is important to leave 3 hours after moisturising for the skin to soak up the moisture otherwise this can make your tan not develop as deep.
The fake tan goes on brown so you can see where you are putting it a lot of the other fake tans out there go on colourless therefore you can't see where you have put it on and how heavy you have put it on. If I buy a new bottle I find the pump difficult to get the fake tan out however it does get going eventually.
It does go on streaky however aslong I cover the area with fake tan it always develops the same shade of brown evenly on me. I think the tan feels like a very thick moisturiser when applying and takes a while to rub in. I recommend wearing gloves when applying the tan as I have had many experiences waking up with a beautiful tan along with deap orange palms. If you don't wear gloves I recommend putting the fake tan on very quickly and scrubbing the hands thoroughly at the end and don't forget to put fake tan on the front of your hands after washing I have forgot to do this before and looked like a panda! I do think the tan smells and it gives me a headache at times when developing but it is well worth the results.
I put it on before I go to bed and when I wake up wash it off. Warning this tan will ruin your bed sheets however it does wash out! I think applying before you go to the bed gives the best results and I recommend for the tan to fully develop to leave it on for about 8 hours. When I wash off the tan I can't smell it anymore which is a good thing as well as I don't think it smells to good. Once I wash off the tan I am left with a healthy looking real tan.
The tan normally stays even on me for about 5-7 days then it can go slightly uneven and patchy. I normally exfoliate and scrub off the tan to make it even. I then reapply st tropez 2 days later, I find this best as it ensures you have got rid of the previous application on your skin ensuring even results this time.
I normally buy the 240ml bottle which lasts me about 2 months if I use it once a week which makes up for the expense of it! Normally I buy it from ebay and can pick up a 240ml bottle for about £27.00 where as in the shops the 240ml bottles retails for about £35.00-£40.00 and the 120ml bottle is £20.00. They sell st tropez in boots, fenwicks, debenhams, superdrug and most upmarket department stores.
I also swim regularly which can fade st tropez when swimming and using st tropez it normally lasts me 4 days and can make the tan patchier than normal.

Advantages: nice fragrance, relatively easy to apply. Disadvantages: turned out orange on my own skin, is not completely even and streak free, expensive, messy.
