I have tried many Self Tan products over the past couple of years and had heard that St Tropez was good in many reviews, magazines and from friend's that have used the product themselves, so I thought I had better give it ago. I find using a foam self tan easier than some of the spray versions out in the market. St Tropez gives you a lovely, instant colour which is subtle, so you don't look like you have been rolling around in the mud and you get an instant glow whilst your tan is developing. Another advantage of the tint in this lotion, as it allows you to see where you have applied the lotion, which in turn helps prevent streaks. I would definitely recommend using gloves or a sponge whilst applying this product as the tint in the lotion can be difficult to remove from the palms of your hands. However, if you do stain your hands, there is a St Tropez Self Tan Remove available which promises to remove tan, as long as you apply this no longer than 2 hours after applying your fake tan. Also, to prevent the dreaded staining on your nails, I recommend coating your nails with clear nail polish and removing this once your tan has fully developed. I would also recommend it has dried in to your skin for atleast 10 minutes before putting clothes on. This will prevent your clothes staining and also so you don't rub the tan off of your skin. The tan dries in your skin within 60 seconds which is great as it doesn't leave a sticky & gloopy feel on your skin. This tan begins developing almost immediately. I tend to go to bed with the tan on so in the morning I can have a shower and rinse it off. This leaves the tan enough time to develop for as long as possible. St Tropez have many products available to allow you to achieve a natural looking result. Before applying this Self Tan Lotion, I recommend you use their exfoliating and moisturising lotion. These are all available from most department stores such as Debenhams or shops such as Superdrug and Boots. The prices do vary from shop to shop, most pricing between £15.00 and £20.00. St Tropez has a slight odour… although not as strong as many self tan lotions I have tried which leave you smelling like a digestive biscuit! The scent is subtle enough for you to wear during the day and going unnoticed. The most important thing though… is that the colour you get is a natural brown tone. A lot of self tans give you an orange look, which in my opinion doesn't look good and is very unnatural. The bottle design makes it easier to apply the lotion as it is a pump spray... so you don't get too much spilling into your hand at once and is easily controlled. For your money, you also get a great amount in the bottle which covers your body atleast 4 - 5 times. Considering it can cost anything between £15.00 and £30.00 to have this applied professionally in a Salon... this is a great deal. The tan lasts up to 7 - 10 days, depending on if you exfoliate etc. St Tropez isn't my favourite self tan… my preference is Fake Bake but it is definitely more natural than many self tans out in the market.
Good review! I'm not a big fake tan fan myself (I like a tan but generally I use sunbeds every so often as i don't like fake tan when it starts to come off) and this is a bit expensive for me, but if I had more money and wanted a tan fast, I'd certainly consider it! P x
