When collecting orders required to fill the vending machines its nice to have some kind of system to check, it is also quite handy to have some way of identifying missing or indeed extra components of the order. This is best done with a highlighter and Stabilo is probably the highlighter used most. They have a good reputation and are generally well respected in the stationery business.

Stabilo do various sizes and ranges of highlighter and in this range you are pretty much guaranteed to find one suitable for the job in hand. Out order sheets tend to be in quite small print and compact so I needed something with a thin edge to highlight any discrepencies in my order, the Stabilo navigator fitted the bill perfectly. I was issued with them for the job, but to buy them they currently retail at around £4 -£5, which I think, is way over the top for what they are.

There are four colours in the pack and I have found that that is usually enough to highlight differences in the order, in fact two usually does. The colours are a sort of light pink, orange, yellow, and green. There are all water based ink and quite vivid in use. They are of a basic pen shape which makes them easier to handle than the old one inch wide things that used to be the norm. The highlighters are of plastic construction, but are of good quality and fairly robust. I've had my current set for ages, so the ink lasts a long time too. They have a nice feel to them and are comfortable to use. I have found the green one to be the most visible of the four, it seems to be just a shade darker than the other three.

Each pen has a top and a rubber section where you can get a better grip, I have found this particularly useful since quite often I have to receive and order in the rain. I thought that being water based the rain might make them run but as of yet no such problems, not that I let the paperwork get that wet anyway. The highlighters are as easy to use as a pen and the writing edge is designed similar to a calligraphy pen where it is 4mm thick and 1mm wide, this means with a little effort you can get fancy writing and any writing between the 1mm and 4mm sizes. So writing straight down and then going diagonal still holding the pen at the same angle will result in getting a v with a 1mm side and a 4mm side……………..looks quite cool. It also means your o’s look nice too.

I think the price tag is way over the top, but the highlighters are excellent quality and the colours are both bright and vivid, making them clearly visible on my order sheets. A little practice is required to get the angling of letters if you indeed require to do so, but the effort is worthwhile since it does look very good when done. You can of course just use the thin or thick edge and not worry at all about the thickness’s. Nice highlighter not so nice price.

A very good review - not actually used these, but now that we're a 2paperless office" hardly ever use highlighters anyway! R.

It's mad the things that companies splash out on! Why not give you cheaper highlighters, of which there are many, and then let you have the extra as a pay rise?!
