...I actually bought this brand new and its a brilliant instrument, as i mentioned above the sound is very nice, its also very comfortable to play. Stagg seems to be good in providing cheap but quality instruments from about 50 pounds upwards they come with a decent case, bow, strap and resin. This is actually my 4th instrument i am learning but i'd say it was one of my favourites. Alot of people say learning the violin is horrible because of the sound it makes but i have not found any off this. I am teaching myself the violin and there are plenty of rescources to do this, it actually seems a fairly common thing to do. Playing an imstrument helps with many skills such as listening and rhythm. It also helps (especially with children) to teach one discipline and time management. Advantages: Good value, nice instrument

...As I discovered recently, choosing a first Violin isn’t all that easy, certainly not as easy as say a first Electric Guitar. There hundreds of makes to choose from, but the two most commonly recommended I found were Primavera and Stentor. I purchased the Stentor Conservatoire and so far I have not been disappointed in any way whatsoever. Although it is not the highest quality instrument, it is certainly good value for money and has a nice look and feel to it. Although I bought it as a beginner instrument, it is often recommended for the advancing student. Stentor does produce one or two cheaper models but I found that the quality was far less both in sound and build. These look a bit different from a conventional violin, there are lots of funky shapes, and they have a pickup to plug through headphones, or an amplifier. All the prices for violin outfits are based on retail prices, but look out for special offers. Don't worry if you don't like these though, pickups are readily available for normal violins from about £10.
