First of all , if you follow the world that is celebrity then I'm sure you'll have heard of Katie Price's recent troubles. If not (and where have you been ?) I will explain to you who Katie Price is ;

Katie Price was born in Brighton on May 22nd 1978. Katie Price started her career off as a glamour model named Jordan. Although she was 'famous' in the 'lad mags' world , she wasn't that well known outside of it. However , in 2004 she appeared on the ITV television programme : I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here , where she met her now ex-husband , Peter Andre in the jungle , that she became more well known , and became a brand! After modelling , Singing , being a television personality and being a regular favourite in celebrity magazines , she turned her hand to author. She is now said to be worth £40 million!

I used to be quite a fan of Katie Price ; having read all of her autobiographies and fictional novels , as well as buying her perfume and watching her reality television programme ; Katie And Peter : The Next Chapter. Now I know you shouldn't believe everything that you read in magazines and newspapers , although I can't help but feel that since splitting with Peter , the 'real Katie' has shown her true colours , and I can't help but dislike her now , whereas before she was one of my favourite celebrities. Regardless of this , I still wanted to know what her new book was all about , but seeing as she is now 'attaching her name' to everything , I didn't want to put even more of my money into her already extra fat wallet! Lucky for me , my Katie-Price-Mad friend was one of the first to buy this new book , and so instead of buying it , I borrowed it.

Believe it or not , Standing Out is the fourth non fictional book from Katie. This book was released in the United Kingdom on 22nd October 2009. This book is a kind of autobiography , yet it is mainly based on fashion and Katie's looks and beauty/fashion tips. This book contains two hundred and eight pages and is available to buy from Amazon for £10.

If I'm honest , when I first heard about this book , I thought it was going to be exactly what Victoria Beckham did ; a book with fashion tips. However , Katie's version is a little bit different as the book is mainly based on her views on how her fashion has changed and so on. However , I wouldn't really call this a style guide because it isnt' all about style. In this book , Katie rambles on about her life as well as fashion. She has tried to 'hand out' some useful tips , but most of them I already knew beforehand , and others are just plain stupid and so I won't be taking what she has to say on board.

There are some photos in this book which I enjoyed having a 'nosy' at , however the ones that are in the book are mainly 'professional' ones and 'paparazzi' ones and so there is really much that I have not seen before , as I am a massive celebrity magazine fan and seeing as Katie is such a favourite and featured regularly in these magazines , meant that I had already seen some of the photographs before. Having said that , there are a few 'personal' ones , but I still think there could have been more.

The book also shows photos of how Katie's style has changed over the past few years , although I wouldn't really have to buy this book just to see that because it was only last week I was reading a similar article about her (I've also seen other articles like this) and so this is nothing new to me.

Although she lists the name of make up brands she uses ; she doesn't explain exactly how to use those specific products. Also there are photos of her wearing different outfits: because this book is mainly aimed at her fans who are interested in looking like her , I think it would have been useful if she had said where she got her dress for example from , rather than just show us a photo.

I wasn't too fussed on this book ; yes , it was alright and I enjoyed it some extent , although there was a lot of it which I have already seen in magazines , and some of the tips she gives are either obvious or stupid ; things I would never imagine of doing. It is a good read if your into the whole fashion thing however it isn't exactly a 'bible' for fashionistas. But , if your looking for something light and fun to read , then it might be worth you having a look at this!

Thanks For Reading!

My daughter likes her but this book sounds a bit poor.

Nothing in the world could ever entice me to read, watch or do anything to support the pointless cottage industry that is Katie Price. Good review though 8^)

One of the Year 7 pupils has been reading Being Jordan - I've never been so uncomfortable as when she read out a passage about 'nothing but her long red hair covering her modesty'! xx
