...months to be imported from Japan, the quality and the warmness of the tone made it worth it. I decided to buy this bass due to the reliability of yamaha. Also the bass contained fret marks and although I have been playing the violin since I was very small and the double bass for enough time to have decent intonation, I thought it would be a wise idea to purchase a bass with fret marks as to aid my playing. These fret marks were useful at the start but now I\'ve been playing it a lot I have got a feel for it and I no longer need to look at where my fingers need placing but they were a very good guide to start with. When the bass arrived I needed to adjust the settings and positioning of the truss rod which would enable the feel of the bass to suit me. .... I think most people of most ages would find this a comfortable fit, though perhaps young children would struggle with the size of neck. There are twenty frets (which is quite standard for an acoustic of this style) but I've never really been able to use anything beyond the 15th fret comfortably. It is of a medium body size and I find when sitting down it is comfortable and rests easily upon the leg. Reaching over the body when sitting can be a little difficult at times because of the thickness of the body, but I wouldn't say it is excessively uncomfortable. Anyone used to an electric guitar might find it a little disorienting at first, but given time I think most people would be able to find a comfortable position for themselves. Advantages: Tailored EQ Curve, Reliable, Sturdy + Good Looks
Disadvantages: Lacking a little in mid for some applications

..., but this response also means any act of extreme EQ'ing in the studio becomes less common. I find this mic works best used on the resonant head of a bass drum with a small diaphragm mic on the batter side (such as a Beta 98) to give a full but punchy bass drum sound. The mic has a 'modified' supercardioid pattern which allows a good gain-before-feedback level and good level of noise rejection. Build Quality: As with most Shure microphones, this thing is built like a tank. The XLR connector is built into the same swivel point as the stand adapter, resulting in tidy cable runs. They aren't too heavy and should stay easily on any good mic stand. As with SM58's, you could probably drop this off a house and it would still be ok (not recommended!).
