Advantages: Holds the record/Loud output/Long life/Easy to put onto cartridge Disadvantages: None that I can think of
...and this happens in some clubs.
This is extreemly imortant because since the Ortofon "scratch" styluses hold so well, you can put less weight on the the turntable arm; keeping the stylus on the record.
This means you won't wear out the record as easily
(less weight on the turntable arm = less wear on the record)
Also, if you put too much weight on the arm, the sound quality will diminish.
As I'm sure you know, turning the base of the arm clockwise and counter-clockwise makes the arm go up and down.
I would recommend setting it near the bottom (at home) and in the middle
(in clubs)
Sound:
Again, high output... Good quality sound/wide EQ range/clear
Final note:
However, I do NOT use these styluses anymore.
If you are not using Serato (DJ sofware) by now, you must be living under a rock...
Ortofon has a new "digital" needle...

Advantages: Very reliable and almost every part is replacable Disadvantages: They are not the best in terms of quality and value for money
...first off, i want to start this review by saying technics are brilliant, on performance they are nearly unbeatable. recently i bought a pair of decks and i was troubled with the question of which ones to buy? well there are 4 pairs of decks that i feel are top of the range, the best decks on the market, so i thought "well i could go for the numark TTx1s, they look cool they have the digital display, they have a large amount of tourque so when your cueing or scratching you can feel the deck trying to pull away from your hand, (trust me a good feel) But i decided no to these, next up was the vestax PDX2000, well vestax are good decks for scratching they are the best only just though, vestax play how you would want a deck to play vestax just feel right but they are not the best and they are pretty ugly things to be honest, next pair...

Advantages: Industry Standard Decks Disadvantages: Technology being left behind??
.... As it is the industry standard, I see this as being the best deck to hav if you wish to get used to club set-ups. Some clubs now have more than one manufacture of turntable but i feel its always best to know how to use the original, so you are more versatile, & more confident with your mixing or scratching etc! If you are a DJ who likes their technological leaps go with Stanton, however if you like simple turntables stick with the highly reputable Technic 1210's (you can always get complicted mixes using FX Mixers etc)..
