Advantages: USB 1.1 Backwards Compatable Disadvantages: Instalation
.
The drivers are in a set up file in the driver?s directory, which you need to run before installing the card. Once the set up file was ran and the computer was restarted then there were no problems with installing the card and windows automatically located the drivers. It was a pity that the manual was not clearer about this.
Since installation I have had absolutely no problems running both USB 1.1 and USB2.0 devices and I have to say that I have seen no noticeable change in speed between the 2 standards.
So apart from the slight installation hassle it has done the job it is supposed to do and that is all I want from it. Though I am confused as to why there is a need for 2 standards when on I have not seen a noticeable improvement in performance. ...
Advantages: Have plenty of USB ports at any time Disadvantages: Can be a bit of a pain when it comes to the power supply.
the ports so much easier.
Which model did I choose?
I chose the Belkin Hi-Speed USB2.04-Port Hub; this was based on the price, availability and looks. The price and availability of the USB hub were my main purchasing considerations.
What did I get?
I got the main USB hub, a connection cable (one end plugs into the hub and the other plugs into a USBport on the computer), a transformer (this supplies power to the hub via a cable that plugs into the hub, more about this later in the review) and very limited instructions. This all gave me change from £25.
What does it look like?
The hub itself is squircle shaped (a cross between a square and a circle) on one end are four USBports, at one side is a socket for connecting the USB lead that connects the hub to the computer and another socket for the power supply that comes from ...
Advantages: Fast USB 2 Hub, Ports well spaced out Disadvantages: Only for Desktop PC's really, Must have adequate PSU
It should first be stated that this product is intended for use with a desktop computer and indeed it would only be practical to use it in such a manner.
The hub comes with an AC adapter which has a good length cable to reach the mains socket. A USB cable is also included to connect the hub to your computer. The hubs cannot function without the AC power.
There is nothing more frustrating than ports or sockets being too close together, meaning that large or bulky adapters or plugs can't fit in next to each other. This problem is avoided by the Belkin 7-port hub as the ports are well spaced out with four on one side and three on the other. There is an indicator light for each port to indicate whether it is working or not (on or off). There is no switch to turn off the hub - this would have to be done by disconnecting it from ...
