A USB peripheral switch are useful items they will allow you to connect items such as camera's, scanners, external hard drives, mobile phones, PDA's etc to your laptop or personal home computer. This USB peropheral switch has only got two ports where most have a minimum of four ports and USB connections on modern PC's and laptops are supplied with USB 2.0 which is a faster system and therefore more efficient. My conclusion is that this is a dated product that you can obtain a superior model unless you need it for connection with an the older USB 1.1 system, then Belkin is a great and trust worthy manufacturer, and this would be suitable to connect to your PC or Laptop and then to any of the items mentioned above. Port Ahoy! Cracking Belkin USB Hub

Advantages: great design, vertical ports for regular items such as memory sticks, led display
Disadvantages: maybe a bit expensive but comparrison but it is quality

schemes currently used. One little feature I love about this unit (although haven't used it yet) is that it is stackable. You can place two of these on top of each other and still use all the ports. It has a throughput of 480 Mbps which is pretty much standard. It is compatible with USB 1.1 as well as USB 2. It's totally plug and play and is recognised with no problems in both XP and Vista (32 and 64 bit). In use I have not had the slightest problem with this hub. It feels well made and hasn't faltered in use for the 6 months or so I've had it. So, in short, it looks good, it feels good and by golly it does you good! Fater than a speeding bullett

Advantages: USB 1.1 Backwards Compatable
Disadvantages: Instalation

I bought this card for 12 quid out of desperation. The desperation was that a lot of USB1.1 devices were not working on my PC and a lot were; I'd be interested to know if anyone else has had this problem. Once I had installed the card and switched on the computer (running windows 2000) there were a few problems with installation of the drivers, the first being that the PDF files had language incompatibility problems. This is not a real problem though as there is word documents. The second problem was that the drivers cannot be installed directly from the CD this caused severe frustration for me as no matter which directory I looked in the hardware wizard could not find the drivers. Like all good engineers I never read instruction manuals even if I had it, they did not tell you what you had to do to install the drivers ...
