Advantages: Great Performance, Totally Silent
Disadvantages: Installation Trickier than Most

...You know you've done well when others try to imitate you. Zalman's silent heatpipe VGA coolers have been copied by many companies now. And this is one of the originals. The packaging of this product is very professional. A detailed instuction booklet complete with diagrams will take you through the installation. You even get a bag of spare parts and a screwdriver, in case you don't have one small enough for the small screws needed. Zalman have thought of everything. Installation is trickier than most VGA coolers, but most VGA coolers don't have a heatpipe on. It'll require quite a lot of thermal paste, but you get 2 tubes supplied by Zalman. Advantages: Great for overclocking, compatible with all current Intel 775 cpus
Disadvantages: Heatpipe foul most large heatsinks.

...'t fit because of the copper heatpipes! This is a major flaw in the board as it means scores of high end heatsinks won't fit either. The main purpose of a board like this is to cope with heat, tweak things and use big high end coolers but the heatpipes almost render it useless for this. They also get in the way of the CPU power connector. If the board was really cheap then it might be worth finding a small enough cooler for it as otherwise it's a brilliant board. But at time of writing it was still £160inc vat and with other boards out there that perform the same for the same money and and have no issues with heatsink compatibility, value isn't its strong point either. To sum up, the JW-X48D2 Extreme-P is a brilliant board let down by its heatsinks. If you intend to rip them off and watercool them, then this will solve the problem... Read review
