What can i say about starcraft? Well, actually i can say an awful lot! When i first saw this game i watched the intro sequence and in the first 2 seconds i realised the this was a game that had a lot to offer. Bilizard, the creators of other great tiles such as diablo (and now diablo 2 and lords of destruction)and the warcraft series are well known for spend a lot of time developing there games and starcraft was no exeption. They were and never have been to worried about missing deadlines due to there ability to resit getting the game out no the market as soon as possible then fix it with patches later on. The game has needed several patches to balance out some unit atributes and to sort out the internet gaming side through battlenet, but the original game has stayed the same.

To the game play and the what its all about.

The basic story is the humans (us) have now discovered space travel and want to take over everything. The techie-bodie types decided that creating a whole race of killing machines should be enginered to dispose of any enemies that get in there way. Thus the zerg came along. Unfortunatly as with all good ideas the zerg got loose and started to take over the planets that they were on. A few planets away a race called the Protoss decided that they really didnt like what was going on and decared war on the zerg and the terrans (The Humans(us)), starting a big old war that spaned the several planets across the universe.

The game is spilt into 3 different sections where you get to control each of the races, starting with the terrans then zerg and finaly protoss.

The various different races have there strength and weaknesses, zerg can have an army ready in 10mins where as the terran units are good at defending and with there big capital ship the battlecrusier they become a formidable force. Then theres the protoss, they have wonderfully diverse units that take a lot of skill to be used in the most effective manner.

When u have played through the very commpelling story single player missions, then you will be fully prepared to take on your friends on a lan or across the internet.

With more playing it will soon become obvious what your favorite race is and that the game splits into 3 very obvious stages.

This is because the strengthes and weeknesses of each race can be exploited at the begining, middle and end of the game. The different stages can only really be discovered by playing the game, so play it and find out!!

In conclusion, starcraft is a great game that if played correctly is more than just a tank rush and is a lot of fun to play in multiplayer mode after the single player has been completed.
