That said, this is a commendable follow-up to the original and should give you hours of entertainment. --Jason Denwood

The game also has an involving storyline.
After watching the impressive intro movie, which shows the return of the Omega Particle, Locutus of Borg, Romulan Admiral Sela and would-be Klingon usurper Toral, you get to choose from one of the four initial campaigns, or an Instant Action/Multiplayer mode.
The Federation missions are your basic introduction - they introduce you to the game's controls and are not too challenging. They also set up a fair few of the game's plots - the first mission introduces the USS Premonition, a Federation ship from the future, and our favourite bad guys, the Borg, who are back with a nice new plot. The second mission introduces Worf, who has his own little adventure which carries on into the Klingon campaign, and the third mission introduces his nemesis, Toral (he is the House of Duras' claimant to the Klingon throne, introduced in The Next Generation). The fourth mission advances the Borg plot a bit, showing the beginning of their invasions of the Alpha Quadrant. All-in-all, the Federation missions aren't too challenging, and offer a good introduction to the basic feel of the game - moving ships, building stations, mining resources and the like.
The Klingon missions are harder than the Federation missions - no question about it. The first mission has you seeking out a Borg base (or rather, about 6 Borg bases - it can be quite annoying finding them all) and destroying it. Nothing too hard, as long as you keep a nice balance of ships. The second mission involves a lot of waiting around building up your base. A lot. Then a massive rush-to-the-wormhole. It's fun, as long as you don't let your guard down. The third mission is (another) Klingon civil war - Martok vs Toral, above the homeworld Qo'noS. This can be fairly hard since you can be under attack on two fronts if you're not careful. The fourth mission introduces the Romulans - it's another destroy-the-base mission. But you get to see the Warbird, the best ship ever. So sad that you have to destroy them.
The Romulan missions tend to focus more on stealth than force. In the first mission, you have to send a spy to infiltrate a Klingon base, then ambush and capture a Klingon battleship. The second mission involves fighting two enemies at the same time - the Ferengi and the Cardassians - in order to gain the ultimate prize. This can be a tricky level, but it's still one of my favourites. The third level can be extremely tricky and annoying. You have to maneuver your group of ships through a map littered with enemies attacking from all directions. The fourth level is my personal favourite in the whole game - you fight with the Borg against Toral's Klingon forces, so that you can form an alliance with the Federation and Klingons -against- the Borg. Confusing, eh? It all becomes clear in this mission.
The Borg missions focus on two main goals - obtaining the Omega Particle, and assimilating the Alpha Quadrant. In the first mission, you're fighting the Dominion in order to gain control of a cloning facility - guess how they got Locutus, whom you saw in the intro movie? That's right, he's a clone. The second mission pits you against the Romulans, and also a fairly rag-tag group of other enemies including Federation science vessels, Dominion and Breen ships, and a Klingon mining outpost. The third mission pits you against Species 9341, who are resistant to assimilation (Species 8472, anyone?). They have a crew-killing weapon that can be...annoying, to say the least. Basically, you have to kill them all. Can be tricky, if all your ships suddenly become derelict. The fourth mission is the one that we all secretly want to play - you attack the Federation at Earth. It's slightly unfair that you start off with just a group of ships and the Federation has its entire Earth Defense Force, but thats why the mission is so great. If you win, it ends with a Borg battle squad moving past an assimilated Earth.
This brings us onto the finale missions, in which you get to play as the combined Federation, Romulan and Klingon forces attacking the Borg to destroy the Omega Particle. In mission one, you have to escort Ambassador Spock (yay! Spock!) to a peace conference between the Romulans and Klingons, to get them to assist the Federation against the Borg. In the second mission, you have to fight the fourth Borg mission again, just from the other side of the coin - as the Federation. Also, unlike in the fourth Borg mission, the Borg start off with a fully built base in this one. Unfair or what? In the third and fourth missions, it details the Allied incursion into Borg space to destroy the Omega Particle. Needless to say, there are a LOT of Borg here.
So all in all, the campaigns are challenging, especially if you've got the difficulty set to "hard". But it's all worth it to see that assimilated Earth...just kidding. But it's definately worth playing.
There is also an online multiplayer mode, as well as an Instant Action mode where you play against up to seven AI players. These modes are basically just build-up-your-base-and-attack, and can be just as challenging, sometimes more challenging, as the Single Player.
The graphics in the game are awesome - the ships have great detail, and the dangerous nebulas even have lightning bolts surging through them. They get 9/10.
The gameplay is good - no two games are ever the same, and each can take hours to complete. It gets 9/10 also.
In conclusion, I highly recommend this game to both trekkies and RTS lovers alike. It is truly a masterpiece.
Advantages: Keeps you busy for hours Disadvantages: You get so absorbed you forget everything else
...the familiar aliens of the Star Trek series. This includes the dreaded BORG.
From the initial graphics of the Enterprise flying across you screen you are drawn deeper and deeper into the game. There are times when you feel you might not complete your mission, but persist and you shall be rewarded. usually with a massive battle against the BORG.
On first starting the game the area of space you are in is uncharted. It is your task to both complete ... ...confirm your decision in typical Star Trek jargon. The exploration and mission completion take you to a final scenario which when completed lets you go on to the next mission. It is not by any means a complicated game but it is very strategic and absorbing.
During your mission you will be ordered by Starfleet to build certain things i.e. Space Stations Mining Stations. On each screen/mini mission there is a Moon which is rich in Dilithium, it is ...

...I had bought and played star trek armada two, I no it should go the other way round but I didn’t see the first one then.
Although the first game isn’t as good as the second one it is still quite a good game to play for star trek fans like me! Well I prefer the games to the series.
Any way in this game you can choose between four different races to be e.g. Federation/ Borg/ Klingon and I don’t remember the other one unfortunately as I have uninstalled ... ...version of windows, but I still managed to play the game and finish it so it wasn’t so bad.
The graphics are really good compared to some other games I no which are also the same age as this game and you can build starbases to harvest resources and construct your armada, you can also board derelict vessels and repair them to add to your fleet. You get over thirty ships and special weapons such as phasers photon torpedoes, quantum torpedoes etc to ...

Advantages: Game play, Story line, Graphics Disadvantages: None
The story line of Star Trek Armada is where the Borg have come to take over the Alpha Quadrant and gain the Omega particle.
The player gets to choose from four campaigns which are the Federation, Klingon, Romulan and of cause the Borg. Each campaign is meant to be happening at the same time as one another.
The Federation campaign begins with the USS Enterprise E going into an almost destroyed section where starbases are damaged and ships are uncrewed. ... ...I would recommend this game for Star Tek fans as well as anyone that is interested in real time 3D space strategy games.

...I am a self confessed star trek fan so I usually like this type of game anyway but this game was fantastic. Its just soo adictive. On the gameplay front its very reminicant of comand and conquer type games but there is just soo much more, the storyline that runs through the game pulls you on and forces you to complete mission after mission even though you may still be up at 3am in the morning. The graphics are pretty darn good too - full 3d ships ... ...or destroyed in dipendintly. The funnest thing about the game however is beaming troops aboard an enemy ship and capturing it.. Especially when you do it to borg cubes when you are the piddley federation. A must for everyone, even if you are not a Star Trek fan. ...

Advantages: Always something to do! Disadvantages: Takes up a lot of time, can get boring
Hello everyone. For all the StarTrek fans out there, here’s a game that may peak your interest:
STARTREKARMADA 2
StarTrekArmada 2 is the sequel to the first game, StarTrekArmada. (Aren’t they original in their titles!)
Now I’m not much of a trekkie myself, but I have to say that the movies are a bit better than most of the StarTrek series and I’ve watched them on occasion. Being friends with a complete StarTrek fan, she has to explain to me what is going on, and why people are at war with each other and so on, and so on. My friend also has every StarTrek game ever devised including this one. I’ve been watching her play it for ages and heard her raving about it so I decided to install it on my computer and give it a go.

Advantages: Great new 3D view Disadvantages: extremely long and addictive.
For all species out there whether Romulan, Klingon or even Tlaxian welcome to the warp-ed review on StarTrekArmada 2! In this episode Dayta has to fix the crashed computer and fill in corrupted information files regarding the game.
***GAME TYPE***
This game is a strategy type game where you build up your base making stations from shipyards to dilithium mining centres. Also you have the power to build huge armadas of new class typed ships to wipe out new enemies featuring 'Species 8472' and the 'Cardasians'.
***GRAPHICS***
In StarTrekArmada all ships where on the same level which using the physics of space would not be essential! So what did Activision do? They changed it so you can send your ships to sneak past enemies either above them and out of sensor range or far below and use both to engage in vertical combat ...
Advantages: Large number of units Disadvantages: Warp speed, can become repetetive
Well, StarTrekArmada 2 - the sequel to an all-time great in RTS games (StarTrek - Armada). Suffice to say, I expected more.
So, what is in this game? Well, there are 3 main campaigns, along with one introductory one. These campaigns go in the order of Federation, then Klingon, then Borg. Unfortunately, there are not campaigns for the Romulans, or Species 8472.
The Federation campaign centres on the Borg, just as in the original Armada. Basically, the Borg have invaded the Regula Badlands without being detected, and are now threatening the entire quadrant. The Federation forces have orders to drive them out, and following that to launch the first ever Federation offensive on the Borg in their native Delta Quadrant territory. Now, this sounds good on paper, I admit - a full-scale war with the Borg, sounds intense, right? But some ...
