The story line of Star Trek Armada is where the Borg have come to take over the Alpha Quadrant and gain the Omega particle.

The player gets to choose from four campaigns which are the Federation, Klingon, Romulan and of cause the Borg. Each campaign is meant to be happening at the same time as one another.

The Federation campaign begins with the USS Enterprise E going into an almost destroyed section where starbases are damaged and ships are uncrewed. So from this the player needs to gather up the ships for use until an unexpected attack by borg vessels. From here on out the mission is to destroy the Borg. I think this mission is the easiest to play however as you pass each mission it does get harder and harder. This mission also has the USS Preminition introduced where it has travelled back into the past to warn the Federation of the oncoming invation of the Alpha Quadrant by the Borg.

The Klingon campaign goes through a number of different missions in destroying Borg bases to having a Klingon civil war.

The Romulan campaign sees a number of missions from fighting the Klingons to making a bargain with the Borg in return for handing over the Omega particle to the Borg.

The Borg campaign begins with the Borg attempting to capture a Dominion cloning station in which the Borg use to clone Lotus fo Borg who is clone of Captain Picard at the same time fighting a biological race which can't be assimlated. The campaign takes the player through all sorts of missions from fighting the romulans to fighting species 8472. I think the best mission is the last one where the Borgs mission is to assimlate Earth which you get to see the USS Enterprise E escaping into the past to worn their self that they will lose the battle for Earth which makes the game even more interesting.

Once all four campaigns have been completed just when you think "Oh so Earth was assimilated" a new campaign appears in the shape of the Omega particle at the center of the screen. This campaigns sees what happens when Captain Picard goes back in time with the Enterprise to top the assimilation of Earth. This leads to all three races the Klingons, Romulans and the Federation combining to fight of the Borg at Earth and then taking the fight back to Delta Quadrant. This campaign made me sit on the edge of my seat because just how well the story line had been made which got me more involved.

Fom what I have said about the campaigns I would have to give the game play a 10 out of 10 and "Well done guys" to the programmers who created this excellent piece of work. At the end of 2001 when this game was released the programmers must of thought "I'm proud of that game" and that they should be.

The game is played as if the player is looking over their ships therefore allowing the player to select each ship and tell them where he or she wants them to go.

The game has a feature which allows the player to zoom in and out on ships at will allowing for the player to see cool battles which I thought was good if there wassn't a number of battles going on at the same time.

I would recommend this game for Star Tek fans as well as anyone that is interested in real time 3D space strategy games.
