I was given a copy of Starship Creator Warp 2. On the box it promises a lot of excitement. You hold the rank of admiral in Starfleet, and you get to design the starship of your dreams. Then you get to select your crew. You can even import your photo, have it don a uniform, and become a member of the crew, just to put you deeper into the game of course. Ahem. Once your ship is built and crewed, you have a choice of 34 different missions.
Here is where the game really falters. You end up seeing your ship on a tiny starmap grid and it moves ever so slowly even in the speeded up mode. You also get no actual intereaction as the entire mission is scripted from start to finish. I was also annoyed when during the mssion it would tell me that my ship did not have a lab or other needed thing, and I could not discover how to take it back to drydock to fit one.
Granted it has been 2 months, and I am playing it in Beginner mode. I do intend to check out the diferent levels and see if it improves, but I am having my doubts. I have clicked on the link provided to the website created for the game, but it seems to not exist. I tried typing it into the address bar as well the the same result. Looking on the box, I also saw an address for a website by Imergy.com. That address for some reason was a porn related site, so I hope that was a misprint on the box! Going to the Jowood website (it is published by Jowood) I was able to find an email address but as yet I have had no reply to my queries regarding the gamesite or why it refuses to play on my dvd. Fortunately I do have a cd drive so that is not a problem, just a minor annoyance.
I would advise anyone thinking that they may wish to have this game to wait and get it on the cheap or hope to get it as a gift so you are not out of pocket. At this point I have to say i did not think it worth the nearly £20 it was going for.
