Advantages: Best book I have read. Disadvantages: It's a book. You have to make an effort to read.
...I am I will admit, a startrek fan. I do read startrek books and have seen a lot of the programs and films. When down in my local library I decided to get out a startrek book called "StarTrek : Imzadi."
It is the love story between Deanna Troi and Will Riker before they are on the enterprise. It tells the story of how they met on Betazed and fell in love. It was a fantastic novel and is over 300 pagesin length. I read it in two days and couldn't put it down.
I would recemmend this book to anybody even though they are not a startrek fan. It is simply a love story based in the surroundings of startrek. There are many things I picked up from the book such as when Will asks Deanna if she believes in love at first sight and she replies no. I believe in lust at first sight that may then lead on to love. I also believe this way...

Advantages: Good insight into character, compelling read Disadvantages: difficult to follow
...This is a very good book, and when I was first bought it, I was quite excited by the prospect of reading about the events which shaped one of Voyager's main characters.
The book follows Janeway from a child through until she is grown up, taking us through many events, and makes for a compelling read for any Trek fan, or anyone who is interested in it.
It is however, quite difficult to follow as you travel from the 'present' with Captain Janeway trying to rescue her away team from an alien planet, to Janeway in various states of her youth.
The author being one of the main producers on the TV series, makes it a very believable account of her life, and keeps the continuity of the startrek world, unlike some Trek books which, as a fan, when you read it makes you think, 'that doesn't seem right'.
Overall though it makes for a good read...

Advantages: Good Read. Disadvantages: Predictable.
...Captains Glory.
Author - William Shatner.
This is the 3rd instalment in the 'Totality' trilogy. It's actually not bad. Having not read the first 2 books didn't matter as there are some references to the earlier books but this novel stands quite well on its own as is the StarTrek ilk.
Synopsis,
The civil war on Romulus has been stopped and Kirk can now search for the truth behind the death of his friend, Spock.
Kirk believes Spock to have been assassinated by the Totality.
But what is the totality? A secret organisation? Or something far more terrifying? And what does the totality have to do with his son, Joseph, and how is it influencing him?
Before Kirk can answer these questions he needs a starship. As luck would have it, an offer from Starfleet gifts him with the starship that he needs. But their conditions are that they can...
