Story
The game takes place between episode III and episode IV and follows the battle up to the eventually potential destruction of the Death Star, depending on the options you had chosen through the game. You can play as either the Rebel Alliance or the Galactic Empire.
Game play
The main game is the single player campaign game, but there is basic galactic conquest, skirmish matches and online multiplayer to chose from giving the game plenty of options to choose from.
You play as the commander of the army unit and battles are both ground side and in space so a bit of variety over tactics and units available. There is a pretty good selection of units to play with many that have already been seen in the Star Wars films before and some new additions.
There is a lot of locations and worlds that need to be explored and conquered in this game, as well as a lot of battles from the films you can reconstruct and fight out yourself.
As in most strategy games you have to develop technology, which there is quite a lot to do, to increase the size of your army and get to the better more powerfully units, you can also call main characters to help depending on your side and the mission.
Controls/Graphics
The game itself is pretty hard to control to begin with, but you soon get used to them and the camera angles can sometimes be annoying but the graphics are very good with some good cut scenes and good detail.
Multiplayer
The multiplayer adds a lot more to the game where you can fight battles against your friends, you can even fight against your friends playing the same side, you can play full space battles or just land battles depending on how you want to play, you can select domination or carry on fighting till you have completely wiped out the enemy.
Value for Money
With all the options available to play and pretty good multiplayer this games is well worth buying as you can play the game again and again and the single player story campaign is pretty long and fairly hard to complete.
The game has also been heavily modded by fans so there is plenty of downloads available to add to the game.
Advantages: great game play highley addicive Disadvantages: Higly addictive
...startergy game set in the star wars universe.
A little bit about the game you start as the rebel alliance with only a couple of planets and a few ships. As in the films and are given various missions to complete. These include ground and space combat. To begin with You have thechoice of a tutorial, single player, multiplayer options.
I would reccomend the tutorial to any new players in it you learn how to control the ground and space forces.

Advantages: Great game for the Stars Wars fan. Disadvantages: A good graphics card is needed to fully enjoy the experience
Star Wars - Empire At War (for the PC)
If like me, the Star Wars exp erience wasn't quite enough by experiencing it through the medium of film. You want to lay your hands on all the material you can in order to experience what the Star wars galaxy is all about. This game gives you a peek of that galaxy.
It offers the player 3 game playing options, as well as multi player: Campaign, Galactic Conquest (which is again broken down into sub campaigns ... ...Battle, (which is basically the quick battle option.) Battles can be conducted either in space or on land. The space battles can be exceptional, although a computer of high spec regarding graphics maybe needed in order to reduce the risk of slow down. The experience of controlling indivual ships is great. The land battles are also quite good, but are dwarfed by the the space battles. In the end you just want to skip the land battles altogether and ...

Manufacturer's product description
LucasArts have been trying to make a decent Star Wars strategy game for years but at last, with Empire at War, it looks like they've cracked it. Aiming to erase unpleasant memories of the likes of Force Commander and Galactic Battlegrounds, this allows you to take control of the forces of either the Empire or the Rebel Alliance - both in space and on the ground. The space battles in the game are the most immediately impressive element with some stunning graphics and a hugely impressive sense of scale. It's much easier to control than similar titles such as Homeworld though and the developer's previous experience with user friendly strategy games such as Command & Conquer is very evident. The ground battles may at first seem slightly more mundane but you get all the classic trilogy technology to use, including outdated (in terms of the Star Wars timeline) leftovers from Revenge of the Sith). There's no boring resource management either though which lets you get on with the actual strategy rather than the book keeping.Your success or failure in either type of battle directly affects the rest of your campaign, including your ability to construct more units and their morale. There are also "hero" units for both sides, including Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi, for that extra boost when your troops most need it. Quite frankly with graphics this good the game is already a must have for any Star Wars fan, but the gameplay is looking equally as good - making this one to watch for everyone. -- Harrison DentThis preview is based on an incomplete version of the game; features or problems mentioned above may not appear in the finished game. Control the fate of the galaxy in the all new real-time strategy game Star Wars: Empire at War. Set a few years before the events of Episode IV: A New Hope, the game will let players rewrite history, as well as experience the aftermath of Star Wars: Episode III -Revenge of the Sith, the creation of the Rebel Alliance and Darth Vader's rise to power.Using an entirely new game engine created by the Las Vegas-based developer Petroglyph, the game will feature beautifully rendered land and space battles set on memorable planets such as Hoth, Tatooine and Dagobah as well as never-before-seen environments taken directly from the Star Wars films and expanded universe novels. In the game, players can choose to join either the Rebel Alliance or the Galactic Empire, building and setting up tactical forces that can be unleashed on the enemy in real-time 3D. All of the gameplay and action within Star Wars: Empire at War is persistent, meaning that strategic and tactical elements from previous events will have a permanent effect on the galaxy. As players build, manage and progress their space and ground-based units, troops and vehicles, memorable Star Wars hero characters will begin playing a role in key situations. In addition to the single player campaign mode, the game will include a two-player Empire vs. Rebellion mode and up to eight player online skirmish modes.
