Advantages: An excellent ending, and thoroughly good read. Disadvantages: Obviously, read the first two books of the trilogy first

The Last Command is the final part of the Thrawn Trilogy, a trilogy set 5 years after Return of the Jedi.
I read this book a while ago, but when I saw nobody else had reviewed it yet, I thought I'd better write something. It's simple, this book is great. The trilogy introduces a few new characters to our familiar heroes Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Leia Solo, Chewbacca, and Lando.
The main new characters are Admiral Thrawn (The Heir to the Empire), and an insane clone of an old Dark Jedi Jorus C'baoth. Thrawn is a tactical genius who can predict his opponents actions by studying the artwork created by their race. Thrawn masterminds an army of clone soldiers, giving strength in numbers to the reviving Empire. With the Republic outgunned and outnumbered, their only chance is to send a small team to the heart of the cloning operation.
The trilogy also introduces Mara Jade, a disciple and spy for the defeated Emperor who is committed to killing Luke Skywalker. She later becomes one of Lukes students in the Jedi Academy Trilogy set 7 years after Return of the Jedi, and 2 years after the Thrawn Trilogy.
The most memorable piece about this book is the excellent ending. Star Wars has two strengths, its space scenes, and the Jedi religion. I prefer the latter, and the end scenes in this book are, in my opinion, better than the defeat of the Emperor, and turning of Darth Vader to good in Return of the Jedi.
I don't want to give the story away, but Luke Skywalker has to fight a Dark Jedi every bit as powerful as himself (which isn't Jorus C'baoth). It is an unexpected ending, which concludes the trilogy perfectly.
I would recommend this Trilogy - Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, The Last Command - to all Star Wars fans. With a worldwide reputation such as George Lucas' Star Wars Episodes, it is obvious that the stories set after Return of the Jedi are going to be to a high standard. The Last Command lives up to this reputation, and adds a different perspective to the battle between The Republic and The Empire. Enjoy! :)
Advantages: great plot, with mini subplots Disadvantages: None that ive found yet!
Everyone remembers the Star Wars trilogy from the past, but there is another trilogy of stories that everyone should be aware of; these three.
The third book is probably the best, mainly because all the situations in the other 2 books come to a head at the end.
The story revolves around the Empires Grand Admiral Thrawn, a very clever leader of a small Empire force. He employs the services of the dark Jedi Joruus C'Boath, and between them they try ... ...planet Wayland. Every Star Wars fan knows that a spaarti cylinder is used to make clones of people, and that there was a terrible war involving clones. The New Republic must try to stop history repeating itself, while Leia finds life as a mother and political leader very hard.
This book, no, this trilogy were were very entertaining. I am reading them again for the forth time since last Chrismas when I bought them. A must have for all Star wars fans!!!!! ...
