Most people know or have heard of Stargate SG1 somewhere along the line as people have with Star Trek but I will go over this show for the people that either are unfamiliar or have not heard of it at all. The show is about a secret United States Government operation run mainly by the Air Force, which deals with a project, which is called The SGC (Stargate Command) facility. It is located in Canada in the mountains, which is hard to find. The SGC deals with a device called a Stagate, which allows people to travel to planets all over the galaxy and acquire technology and alliances.

The main characters in this program are Col. Jonathan "Jack" O'Neill played by Richard Dean Anderson. This character is the leader of the team SG1 who co-ordinated them and gives out the orders. He is not the smartest member of the team but does have a knack of doing the right thing at the right time despite his laid-back attitude. Jonas Quinn played by Corin Nemec who is the newest addition to the team and is still trying to fit in with everyone else. He is not yet trusted but is a good team member who desperately wants to earn the trust of the other members. Maj. Samantha Carter played by Amanda Tapping who is the brains of SG1 and can disarm and set up any piece of alien technology and tends to use a lot of scientific language throughout the show. Finally Teal’c played by Christopher Judge who is a former first prime to Apofis who is a gwold system lord.

There are other characters but they are not directly linked to SG1. This program is mainly about fighting the famous ancient Egyptian gods from out of space called the Gwold who take control of host’s bodies and want to wipe out earth. You will also view alliances with the Tocrah and the Asgard who are sworn enemies of the Gwold.

Each episode is approximately 25 minutes in length but will extend to one hour on channels such as Sky One who put adverts in between every fifteen minutes. If you do come to watch this show you will find that not every episode is about fighting aliens from out of space and a lot of the episodes are about moral concepts and keeping the Stargate project hidden from the civilian world.

In my view this program is in the same league as Star Trek and I feel that over time it will become more and more popular just as the film leading to the series did. The only bad thing I can really say about the series is that fact that there are a lot of American Government issues that don’t really aply to me as I am British and sometimes I feel I am being taught about the United States Government system more than anything else. If you wish to watch Stargate SG1 you can catch it on Sundays 18.00 channel 4 or weekdays form 18.00 - 19.00 on Sky One.

Sorry, but what the hell are you talking about! It's not in Canada at all, it's set in Cheyenne Mountain, which is in Colorado. For more info go here: https://www.cheyennemountain.af.mil/
