Death of a Salesman- Miller's most famous play
Review of Death of a Salesman - Arthur Miller by
madchillie
Advantages: Intelligent literary play with scope for plenty of analysis
Disadvantages: Won't appeal to everyone
...and effective. There are still hints at times, however, that this is a play and not a reality show, for example, when Linda says 'Attention, attention must be finally paid to such a person.' Repetition is used for effect by the playwright.
Sometimes it gets confusing working out what is happening in the past and what is happening in the present because, in parts of the play, both are running at the same time. This is intentional however, for Miller is quoted saying, 'The play was begun with only one firm piece of knowledge, and this was that Loman was to destroy himself. How it would wander before it got to that point I did not know…the structure of the play was determined by what was needed to draw up his memories like a mass of tangled roots without end or beginning.'

From Beyond the Grave.
Review of Bag of Bones - Stephen King by
Elffriend
Advantages: Suspense, romance, gripping horror.
Disadvantages: none in my mind.
...not afford a proper house. Stephen King's family were the former type that is why you will find such expressions in many of his books. He must have felt it keenly to use it so many times. This has some bearing on the book so hang in their with me for a while.
The Plot
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
The year is 1994 and in Derry, Maine, Mike Noonan's wife Jo has recently died from a brain aneurysm while coming out of the local drugstore. Mike is a fairly successful writer but in the aftermath of his wife's death he finds he can no longer write. This is no ordinary writer's block but a severe panic attack every time he approaches his computer.
Then the nightmares start all of them linked to a town on the Dark Score Lake where Mike and Jo had a retreat called" Sara Laughs" a substantial log cabin on the shores of the lake and also a home...

Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came
Review of The Dark Tower Collection - Stephen King by
dididave
Advantages: A synopsis of the greatest series of books I have ever read!
Disadvantages: The longest review of all time.
...Hello there my ciao friends. I am going to warn you now this review is going to be long. To do an overview of such an epic set of books any justice it must be. These books are the pride and joy of my collection so I feel an urge to share my ramblings with you.
So, Stephen King eh. "I won't read anything by him because he only writes dodgy horror novels."
A common misconception is that King is a horror writer. However, those who know anything about him know the man is capable of writing in a variety of fields. Although, predominantly known for books such as "The Shining" and "Carrie" due to the hugely successful films, an increasing number have been following his Dark Tower series myself included. The Dark Tower series consists of seven books all of varying lengths and scope.
King got the idea to write this series of novels...
