Cookworks Silver 3 Bowl Steamer
Review of Cookworks 3 BOWL Steamer by sallyspud

Advantages: steams veggies, healthy, very cheap. Easy to refill with water mid use.
Disadvantages: longer cook times than guidelines, beware of heat at end of cooking

...through Argos & found the Cookworks 3 bowl steamer in silver at only £12.99. Nowhere on this is a model number, not even on the instructions, but thats the title of the product. The picture at the bottom represents my model. It has 3 big bowls & a unit at the bottom with the controls to generate the steam from water you put in the trough at the bottom. It has a maximum & minimum water guage, which is very usefull as you can see if the waters getting ...
...system where the bottom containing the element, water & controls, has 2 handle looking sides, in them is a hole. You can tip extra water into this hole instead of dismantling all the levels whilst cooking. Which is very handy as Im sure you would burn yourself if you had to fill it mid flow. You have on the bottom control unit a timer switch. It is very primative, it is a turn switch that ticks away till it gets to 0, then a bell goes off, like ... Read review

Two Tier Cookworks Steamer
Review of Cookworks Steamer by sameira

Advantages: As Good as the expensive ones
Disadvantages: blocking the holes causes uneven steaming

i think this steamer is good all round and does the job as good as an expensive one. but i have to say if you put more vegatables then the manual recommends then it does take a little longer to cook. another thing i noticed was that if you block all the pores from of the bottom container then the steam is not disterbuted equally. in fact very little steam the top container if you have the other container on top! so my advice is not just this, ...
...at least 3-4 holes at the bottom of the container are not bloced by the food you put in it! the mannual says not to add flavouring to the (e.g) vegatables/meats or it could effect the performance of the cooking. i ignored this and still marinated the boneless bitesize chicken. the only thing i noticed was that in the drip tray the fat was more tandoori colour then what fat looks like! not just that the tray is now perminately stainned red! lol! ... Steamer
Review of Tefal VC100615 by googeth

Advantages: Locks in Great taste
Disadvantages: None

As i often have people round for dinner parties, i like to ensure that the food of which i prepare is of the highest standard and that it tastes fantastic. If i was to boil or cook my food in the oven the essential flavours and vitamins are lost through that form of cooking. However, after doing research i discovered that the best way to cook your food, is by steaming. My friend reccomended this product to me and i took a chance of purchasing ...
...also many large supermarkets such as tesco. As the dinner party was fast approaching, i decided to do a trail run. I prepared my vegatables, And chicken breasts, There is stacking system, each conpartment for a different type of food. You can steam, fish, chicken, pork, steaks, vegtables. There is also a seperate rice bowl. And a drip tray for collecting juices. You pour your water into the heating department, then place your drip tray into ... Read review

Russell Hobbs-You are what you eat-digital steamer
Review of Russell Hobbs 12711 YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT Steamer by km25

Advantages: Good value for money, good options, easy to use, easily storable
Disadvantages: Basket layers are not strong and falls of easily....

Recently there was an offer on Rusell Hobbs - You are what you eat digital steamer (AS seen on TV) on offer at Sainsburys. I bought it for around 18 pounds. I saw a similar offer on tesco direct webpage but realised that it was not digital so chose the Sainsburys one. It's a three tier- digital steamer with oval baskets that has detachable layers. The baskets are numbered and can be stacked in reverse order to save space. It came with a rice bowl ...
...the electronic timer delay function. I have not tried the timer delay yet. The cooking time can be increased or decreased by 5 minutes by pressing the +/- buttons. The steamer keeps the food warm after the completion of cooking. The externally visible waterlevel indicator is very useful. There seems to be auto cut off if the steamer runs out of water during the cooking process however filling the water upto max lets it steam for 45 minutes without ... Read review

bye bye pans!
Review of Tefal 6615814P Three Tier Aquatimer Steamer by rachael23

Advantages: quick, easy to clean, stacks for easy storage
Disadvantages: looks a bit cheap, water timer

I bought this product for 3 reasons 1 - I was/am trying to be a bit healthy 2 - I was fed up of washing pans 3 - I had £20 of Argos vouchers burning a hole in my pocket! I found this steamer in Argos on reduced to £14.99 which I thought was quite a good bargain. At the moment they are selling it for £18.99 (the original price is listed at £39.99) so it is still a good deal. When I got it home I unpacked all the bits and I must agree with the ...
...nasty. However I have had mine a while now and use it nearly every day and it is still working and all in one piece so it must be tougher then it looks! Also there was an awful lot of unnecessary plastic and foam packaging in the box which as a keen recycler I was not too happy with. But that's probably just me being a bit neurotic! So I chopped up my veg, filled it up with water and plugged it in. I used the booklet that came with the steamer for ... Read review
