Steamer Advantages: Locks in Great taste Disadvantages: None As i often have people round for dinner parties, i like to ensure that the food of which i prepare is of the highest standard and that it tastes fantastic. If i was to boil or cook my food in the oven the essential flavours and vitamins are lost through that form of cooking. Recommended - Good performance and value for money Advantages: Attractive design, useful features, good performance Disadvantages: No filler spout, a little awkward to assemble ...circuit, and settled on the Tefal 'simply invents'. How much invention is there - can there be - in a humble kitchen steamer? Obviously not much - but read on! The Tefal VC101616 is a conventional three-tiered kitchen steamer which can perform all the usual functions. The base has a brushed stainless steel finish, and the baskets are clear plastic. Preparing the steamer for use, one notices that it is light - an important consideration if it's going ... ...to be said that the Tefal does vegetables very well. Things like carrots, cabbage and broccoli turn out well - and quickly - retaining good flavour and texture. It took its time doing spuds though although they, too, turned out well, so obviously they should always go in the first basket! Mmmmm, vegetables.... Advantages: Vegetables and rice but not as we know it! Disadvantages: None ...a review of the particular Tefal model (which I got on special at Argos for £18), I suspect most are pretty good. Below are some things to check when you see a steamer on special. I was surprised at how easy they seem to use. I never thought they would be a tricky appliance. But being able to switch on the timer and not have to constantly check the food, means you can do something else while it is going. I haven't been able to check it out thoroughly, ... ...cheap ones you cannot)? The Tefal has a small drawer-like thing that pulls open that you pour water into while it is switched on. 2. Is there a water level indicator? Best not to try boiling your steamer dry, and a kettle-like indicator on them is probably better than waiting for the burnt out smell! 3. Vita a price for this! Advantages: It does steam well, best rice ever with a steamer too Disadvantages: Price (ouch!), and not for family of 4 or above..... I had wanted a new steamer for quite some time. My old one had seen better days, and it was time to get rid. When I looked in the store I found this new model and though the price is high, I put it at the back of my head as a potential winner - IF I could find it on sale! Didn't find it on Sale, but did find it on e-bay for £30 - so bought it there! When I got it home I realised it looked bigger on my counter than when I looked at it in the store. ... ...shaped you normally get, this unit is sort of kidney shaped. (or as close to a shape I can describe.) It comes with two metal baskets which sit side by side rather than on top of one another. Tefal steams into the lead Advantages: Stylish, easy to put together Disadvantages: none This is a great product from tefal. Accesories include a rice cooker. There are three shelves, you can also cook six eggs at a time. There's a helpful guide telling you how long to put different kinds of food in. Its self assembly but the parts click together easily. Comes with a built in timer and stainless steel base so it will fit in with most modern kitchens and it looks expensive.
