First of all, like to say, yes I’m back for a while and its good to be back, why write about Stella in my time off?
Well, last night on the train coming home I had nothing but Stella to drink and I have noticed that although Kronenbourg1664 used to be me favourite, somehow, Stella have crept over and taken over my stomach and head.
Us squaddies spend most of our Saturday nights drinking this even when not supposed, but this Jammy guy got a smart little place to keep it ready for us to drink, so providing my Sgt. or Corporal doesn’t see this, we’ve got away with it.
Infact sometimes were able to go down to the local pub and its there that I drank and enjoyed my first pint of Stella Artois. I’ll talk a little more about that when it comes to taste. But since these I started training hard and drinking slightly heavy on the Stella by tap I’ve found that I enjoy it more and can handle alcohol better too which saves broken tables and lairy fist fights from being on my good night out.
STELLA: The Background > ----------------------- Thanks to the great grain fields of Belgium Saint Arnoldus began to brew a beer
known now as Stella Artois.
In 1366 he began to make beer deep beneath the abbey where Trappist monks would help to brew the beer as a replacement for bread when times were tough. Persuading a city of water drinkers to try the brewed beer was tough but the excellent quality and taste of Stella got the better of the city.
Through the centuries the beer was brewed finer and better leaving us now with a great tasting beer home grown from Belgium’s grain fields which are now a heritage to Belgium itself.
Stella describe this as the compared excellence of French wine. Back in the days of the 14th century this was a secret, a secret they managed to keep for sometime. But now, today, Stella is no secret and has to be one of the biggest names in beer today.

STELLA: Taste & Quality > --------------------- Washing down the drink down your throat brings the two best qualities of beer together :- Strength and Smoothness.
Stella has the fizzy texture which saturated in strength hence %5.2, but the strength of the drink is mellowed out with a soft smooth run to it, which can be described like a smooth flow of beery cream.
It’s quite clever actually, you get the strength without killing the taste and you throwing a can to the birds. Another clever thing is the smoothness of the drink allows the drink to slip down your throat with ease and taste, allowing only one thing, to drink more!
I believe this quite strongly as I find that of all the beers Stella Artois is maybe one of the few that taste so good and slips down the throat so smooth and fast that you only know one thing, to drink more.
These points are strongly linked to the quality side of this Belgium beer, as the drink is brewed to the max time and potential to give the beer its well known strength but is made with pure excellence as the taste can not be faulted.
Drinking a Stella from a pint to a can and bottle seem slightly different all the time. The pint, seems smoother than the cans and bottles, very smooth and very tasty. However, I always find the bottles to be more fizzy texture made and the cans to have the hint and touch of smooth beer like the pint.
Now we all have personal opinions of course and this may be the simple fact that pints take more of a wider mouthful where as bottles just take a touch of the mouth.
But whatever way you look at this, or taste the beer I can be 150% sure that the taste in Stella Artois is slightly original but more tasty and familiar, once you’ve drank this it’s not too hard to forget the name or the taste.
STELLA: Packaging > -------------- I drink more of the cans than anything right now as its not often we have a chance for the pub and of course, we enjoy a few cans of Stella for sure.
The cans are quite noticeable, so don’t try to hide them like we do as it’s near impossible. The cans are have got a white background bordered by the trims of gold colour at the top and bottom of the can. On the front you have the very exquisite fancy style gold badge with the huge famous name on a red background- Stella Artois. The badge also enables Belgium to receive its glory as it’s mentioned on the badge as ‘Belgium's Original Beer’
Where as the bottles are the usual shape but have a chunkier neck and slightly different shape as the bottle gets nearer to the mouth of the bottle. The bottles are more simple on the design and information but hold the key important things, the fancy look, Belgium Beer and of course, Stella Artois.
Though it’s not important I’d say be careful with these cans, they’re extremely weak and easy to squeeze, a lot more weaker than most other cans by leading names. So watch out for that as these cans like all others are made out of aluminium and can cut quite nasty and easily.
STELLA: What Not To Do > ---------------------- A couple of weeks ago me and the others were out for the Saturday night in Bournemouth which isn’t too far from us and wanted to make a night of it, other than the skinni-dipping with girls and drinking a funnel cocktail each, Brian managed to climb on to a van, somehow, don’t know how, he lost his balance and fell.
Brain broke his arm, yes, he sure did, what did our Corporal have to say? well, enough. But this is my warning:
Stella is strong, If you want to make it home, Don’t drink too much, Otherwise you may fall and hurt yourself, You may end up crying in front of friends, and you might even loose one of your balls!
So take it easy when your on the Stella as many of times now I’ve found it hard to keep my balance, relieve myself in an appropriate way and to make it back to where I should be without the help of others!
STELLA: Overall > ----------- Stella’s maybe one of the most priciest drinks on the bar front these days, it’s only thanks to supermarket price competition that we’ve managed to find beer getting cheaper than it used to be.
The pint is still from what I know one of the most expensive ones, but remember that you should never have less that £40-00 on a night out to the pub and secondly, Stella is supreme and superb!]
It has Quality, Taste and even has away about it that makes you want more and enjoy yourself!

Great opinion here, however despite being "Reassuringly Expensive" - Kronenbourg is still the best!

A great op for a great drink. Thanks for your kind comments on my Leeds Utd op. They should improve now that Venables and Ridsdale have departed. Happy Easter, Jamie!...Paul
Advantages: Tasty, clean crisp flavour, Moorish, can drink it all night Disadvantages: Expensive, can remain over the limit for driving for the whole of the next day
